Changing up the Honor System

I know Lyte and others have been hard at work on improving the honor system. My thoughts is that this system is becoming a bit stale and I am noticing it seldom used. Currently, this system means nothing...there are no rewards (save for the banners over our player load-screen avatars). So how do we change this? How do we bring value to a system that suffers from people honoring friends, people that honor rarely, to games that feel a bit meaningless as each team gets no honor at all as people grind ranks or just finish games?

How about we actually "enforce" an honor system? Why not at the end-game results screen before a player can exit we force all players to at least honor someone from each side? This builds merit to the honor system as well as enforces sportsmanship and positive play. Of course there may be problems with this but in order to gain honor and change player behavior I would like to suggest the following:

item 2050

Enforcing the honor system by at least honoring a player on both sides (or at least one side). Of course we can opt to honor more than one so this does not create a favoritism among duo-queues or more grouped players queuing in champ select; but this system will make players honor at least one person on both sides. This may restore some of the value that each game is important vs. honoring that one great player we encounter after multiple games. I mean is it really that hard to take reflect and just click on a player you thought did well? Or to the more toxic people, the one player that was the least contributing to your loss?

Sometimes, there is the hang up where a results screen fails to load and players can "skip the player results screen" which I still think is fine to utilize even with this system proposal. Offer more rewards to the honor system. I am unsure what exactly - but for now perhaps a small increase to XP/IP to those that attain honor(s) per game - maybe even after 100 honor 10 RP or something? Though this is just suggestions for discussion and is probably something Lyte and the others can figure out as they evaluate and work on future honor rewards.

item 3046

A new badge system instead of a single banner on player load screens. One that shows 4 badges (if earned) in the current honor categories or a similar system - re-stressing to players the importance of sportsmanlike behavior, proper conduct, etiquette, and positive play as players will now actually try to attain honor. Perhaps even attaching these # of badges earned to Tribunal cases for deeper review leading to a bigger picture.

item 3041

Overall my main proposal is changing up the honor system to a more "MVP style" system where we are forced to reflect at the end of our games and honor at least someone after the game which I believe could enforce friendlier play, helpfulness, and teamwork in this game among those that play each game.

Just my thoughts but I look forward to more discussion on this subject. item 3060

I agree with the general premise. The Honor system doesn't seem to be utilized to its fullest extent.

My only reservation with regards to your suggestion is that it seems antithetical to the idea of the honor system to begin with. Meaning, if the honor system becomes something with goals and rewards, wouldn't that defeat the purpose? Because then people would just have a reason to abuse the system wouldn't they? And if everyone is abusing the system it then becomes meaningless.

It just seems like encouraging or especially forcing a player to honor teammates could create more problems than it solves, no?
