As a person that do put in ALOT of time in league but have terrible luck with geting boxes I do have a very small amount of essence and i just stack up on tokens. I think it would be nice if i could make some use of them instead of them just piling up. It might be an issue to riot if people just can play thier onetrick and get alot of tokens for essence but it should be doable in some way.
yeah, at one point i had 14 level 6 tokens for 7 different champs but not enough blue essence to use any of them.
It would be a bad implementation. You would either create a way to more easily farm essence or you would lock players out of leveling up a certain champs mastery.
Reminder that you can buy champion shards with IP, which you can then disenchant for blue essence. If you play enough games to get many champions to level 5 and then to get a couple of S games each beyond that, you're probably earning enough IP to get at least some of them up in ranks :)
