!!!!New Chat Mute options!!!!

There is currently an out of game option to block yourself from all chat. Which is an amazing idea and makes complaining to the enemy team useless because they will never see it. I think this could go a step further and the option to mute yourself from team chat should be implemented. So now you are unable to be toxic to anyone at all. Which will more than likely keep you from getting banned due to toxicity. Sometimes we cant control our tempers and we say things in the heat of the moment which we immediately regret. However some players still report you(rightfully) even if you try to apologize. There are plenty of ways to communicate to your team via pings. The option to mute yourself from chat entirely must be an option. You can also mute other players who are being toxic or flaming. With the right settings your games can be almost 100% toxic free which is better for everyone involved!

Please vote yes. maybe you do not need it but some people need it very badly.

I say no, and here's why.

Implementing a self mute option won't fix the person being toxic, it will just make it so they can't flame their team. They're still going to be tilted, so all this will do is make it so instead of typing in all chat about how bad someone is, they break their keyboard against a wall. And sure this stops them from tilting their team but the toxic persons game play is still going to be negatively effective.

Let's be honest. If someone wants to flame their team this button isn't going to fix it. They can just click the button again and start typing. But this also discourages players from trying to reform, if someone needs to have a button to not be toxic then they deserve the ban in the first place. And do we really need riot to cater to toxic people? Like thats them saying "It's okay if you're toxic and angry, we'll give you a way to not be banned for it."

And end of game lobby is still a thing. Most flaming happens in end of game lobby anyways. That's when people get tilted, seeing damage CS wards etc, you get a feel for just how badly someone played. Not to mention the instant tilt of "gg ez" A button in game to mute yourself definitely won't fix the problem of toxicity. The way to fix toxicity is to JUST NOT BE TOXIC. It's not that hard you guys. It's like saying no to meth or cocaine, "Nah, I'm good enjoy being arrested though". Not only would this feature be a step of riot catering to toxic players, it would also prevent people from feeling the need to try to make a difference in their behavior.

This idea isn't a bad one but it's not something that will fix toxic people from flaming their team.

tl;dr Toxic people will be toxic regardless of a button preventing them.

That's a pretty good idea. Most of the time if your teammates mute you they're already going to report you after the game too. This would let you take action before ever earning a report at all.

Why would you mute yourself? Just don't chat then... Clearly you can just unmute yourself when you want to flame...
