so I just spent 35 dollars buying RP by my credit card on Jan 16, and today when I check my bill details I find out there are 2 transactions I never made. It's in Miami and I am living in Canada. I do not 100% sure that my credit card info. leaked by riot, but after this time, I do know it is not safe to buy RP online.
DrCyanide3 votesYou realize that more credit card information is stolen physically by credit card skimmers than by typing it in on websites, right? Gas stations, ATM's, the waitress at the restaraunt you went to last night, etc. Don't jump to conclusions.

Exactly. There's no point accusing Riot. It could be any number of places over the past 2-3 months, both physical and digital, that caused this.
The reality is, if a company the size of Riot had a CC leak it would be a global scandal. The digital verification services are good enough that CC info is incredibly rarely leaked from the server side. 99.999999999% of online cc leaks are from a person's computer... but online cc leaks are a lot less frequent than people realize, because the majority happen due to cc skimmers or other physical equipment.
So there's no point throwing blame, just contact your cc company, get the charges refunded(most cards are insured against this sort of thing), and get a new card.

Or it was a waitress 2-3 weeks ago who kept the information because she didn't wanna be obvious about it, then when she flew down on her already planned vacation, she used it there to cover some expenses she didn't have enough for herself.
Eleshakai2 votesA better lesson to learn would be to know your computer so you can avoid getting spyware that will leak your credit card number out when you enter it in.
It's as safe to buy online as your computer is secure... if you're not good at maintaining your computer's 'health' then ya... probably better to avoid buying by credit card online. But this applies to everything, not just RP.
Sir ArmaMalum2 votesWhat I'm reading: you bought RP and you have an identity theft problem. These things are probably not related if they happened on the same day. Check your other purchases and your own computer for malware. Contact your bank to have the transactions nixed and the thief apprehended.
