New Player Perspective

So this is just my thoughts on playing League of Legends now for about 2 weeks. The game is fun, exciting, fast-paced and pretty evenly matched. I've tried other MOBA's, but I definitely like League of Legends the best.

Now for the "but".

I have noticed an issue with the community. At least, in-game. The forum community tends to be much more respectable (to a point!) and I enjoy reading a lot of threads here. The issue I've been having, is from the constant "noobie bashing" I receive. Mind you, I'm Level 7, new to the game, and playing some of the least-stressful roles out there. I'm not trying to carry a dang thing. But so many games I get bashed repeatedly, people asking others to report me for "feeding". I've been called worthless, a piece of crap, a waste of space, and on numerous occasions I've been told to jump off an overpass.

Lots of threats, bashing.. I mean, you just think of it, and it's been said to me in a matter of 2 weeks. Reporting them doesn't seem efficient or help the game as it is, and muting them (which I do), doesn't take away what was said and doesn't help any sort of possible teamwork that the game should over. I understand that smurfing is apart of the game, and Level 30's need an outlet for their frustrations when their queues aren't working out for them, but all I want to say.. is be nice about it.

oh i can so relate, i stopped playing summoners rift unless its a full team of people i know for this reason! on little mistake and you hear " uninstall" cusses, chided to kill oneself...ect and reporting seems pointless doesn't help learn the game better, i play mostly aram now...

That would be this mobas....downfall, if you would. ;D But these things can be primarily avoided once you play with or find a few friends and group up with them to play, there's a lot less hate that way (sometimes, ive seen it even worsen at points though, maybe theres one random and a group of four sometimes they group will gang up on the guy in chat, depending on what was said). It'd be great if everyone could be nice about the game but, that's far from the reality of LoL. Even I struggle sometimes in being the nice guy all the time, if someone makes a mistake or does something that I think cost us a lot and could've been avoided I'll say something along the lines of "Dude, why'd you go do that? We couldve blah blah... instead" But sometimes people take offense to comments like that or see it as aggression and then there's just bad blood. (Which I don't do the greatest job at resolving...im a stubborn person) Honestly the majority of people I play with are seemingly used to bad blood between teammates and most people react the same way when mistakes are made. It's almost a normal thing to see people get angry at each other and blame for mistakes instead of trying to fix them. But small amounts of kindness in this game can go a long way as well, so stay positive and don't let everyone bother you.

don't play summoner's rift normals. It is filled with smurfs (mostly from low elos like bronze/silver/gold 5s) and bots.

Instead play bot games, twisted treeline, ARAM, then at lvl. 15, play teambuilder.

The Point of view in game as a player regardless of tenure can make that better or worse. Now I might be entirely wrong here: but for each bm player, wasn't there at least one quiet or kind player? It's just so much easier to notice the awful human beings (but someday they'll be slightly less awful human beings, we just have to believe!)

Anyway, on a different note: the league in game is relatively... Unique... when it comes to new player advice and all. Id advise not spending IP on runes or anything for awhile and finding some friends with some tenure to help with that since you'll be disappointed with certain things that seem good under level thirty but simply aren't (like T1 and T2 runes).

If you want advise or anything, feel free to add me in game, would be more than happy to make suggestions based on roles and all that you enjoy. The community has a lot of good people as well, when you find four friends to play with (that're preferably around your skill level at the time since if they aren't it can be a very... lopsided game) you'll learn to enjoy league even more!

Meanwhile though, best of luck with the bm players, I hope they magically arent bm anymore (that is literally the best I have, couldn't think of anything better to say there)

This is why, when I get to level 30, I will only play in ranked placements and then 5v5s with friends.

Also, I recommend (and by your icon I think you probably have) that you watch some pro matches. They teach you a lot.
