So, RIOT: you guys are against 3rd party modifications "because it gives players an unfair advantage".

This is untrue. If ANY one can download and install the mod, then no one is at an advantage.

It can ruin the game experience because the mod may be buggy: so what? What if I'm ok playing with a few bugs here and there? Champions and mechanics are filled with bugs but I have to deal with the experience your offering to me.

All of the information mods can display are public to everyone, I totally disagree if a mod gives an unfair advantage like using something no one knows like enemy cooldown timers... oh wait, you can still calculate all of that! You can publicly look up a persons rune & masteries pages, you can see which champ they are using and what items they have and calculate all that data, so what if we can make it happen in real time and have it appear on screen?

Even ranges aren't unfair (again, any one can download the mod) because you can just click around until the turret hits you, then mark that spot. So what if we can mark 1000's of spots to make a nice neat circle around the turret and have it overlay on the map? Any one who wants range indicators can download that mod.

Let's go to the simplest of mods: numerical values on the name plates that you supply that float over each champion. Why is that such a bad thing???

I understand that you are creating an environment that you don't want people to get distracted from... I want to be distracted.

I feel insulted and bullied that you tell me that I am not allowed to distract my self and impair my experience. I am doing it on my own behalf.

I am NOT going to contact YOU guys directly for support, I'll ask for support from the developers of the mods.

If I use your forums, so what? If every one downloads the mod, some one should have some help to offer.

I think you should just implement a whole nother server where you allow mods and see what happens before you decide how we want to play.

LET THE FLAMING, DISCUSSIONS AND DEBATES BEGIN!

*NOTE!!! Please keep it civilized, no need to be toxic, just be stern or disagree, don't be rude and use profanity.

So, in posting this, you are aware that not all mods are banned, right? Nor are they all considered problematic.

Your argument that "anyone can download and use it" is only partially valid. Sure, people that know about the mod and are willing to download it will be on the same level, but because they come from sources other than Riot the players are not protected from anything that might happen because of it (any sort of malware or even incompatibility with their PC). This rule (which is not all encompassing as you think; some 3rd party mods are verified officially for use, such as Curse Voice) is to protect players also, not just secure the integrity of gameplay.

Also, it is quite often that a developer (for this game and others) will eventually incorporate popular mods directly into the game. Did you notice the jungler timers? That used to be a 3rd party mod thing. You can look at WoW and see they've done it for tens or hundreds of little things, taking over old addons (I use WoW as an example, because I've played it for a long time and see the many many changes).
