I had this account in Plat 5 for awhile. After that, I steadily worked on getting another account in Plat. After second one had been achieved, I went back to first one, only to discover first one had decayed. Okay, no problem.

EXCEPT, for some reason the 'Veteran' tag got applied because when I decayed back to Gold 1, because of I had played games in it before. I kind of bombed out and went on a losing streak then, losing 13-14 points per gave and winding up in high Gold II.

All of this is leading up to the current situation. First of all, the first thing that's absurd is that I'm grinding out freaking 3-7 LP. And after finally getting my act together, I've had like 75-25 win ratio. I've literally won 7 to 8 games per my 2-3 losses and climbed this stupid, gruelling staircase to get back to Plat. And so JUST NOW I lost my promos to plat again. AND LOST FREAKING 47 POINTS. What the heck is that!?

The losses per gain has gotten to the point of absurdity, especially since I've already had this account in like plat 4 or high plat 5 (I can't remember which) a while back.

Why is that I have to hve a 70-80% win ratio to climb? It's ridiculous.

It's because you lost a promo. What was your record in the promo? Depending on how well you do in your promo when you lose, it'll drop you down to some calculated amount of LP.

Basically, if you lose really hard (0-2 in bo3 or 0-3 in bo5), it'll drop you down lower, as it assumes you just aren't quite ready to move up yet. I actually dropped almost 60LP after going 0-3 in a promo to reach gold. It was definitely pretty disheartening (especially because I could swear I had read some red post at one point stating that you drop to anywhere between 50-90 LP after a failed promo).

I always wondered about the ranking system. I outright refused to play Season 3 at all on a hunch (except for once; tricked into it by friends x_x)...

Maybe there's some broader reasoning behind not making the system more acknowledging of what actually happens before and during games. Maybe the Rioter who designed the system admires Sisyphus. Who knows?
