All the people saying the new Gangplank is fat have clearly never seen what exceptionally strong men look like. Large men with uber-well defined muscles are not actually stronger. Quite the contrary, the strongest men do not have a 6-pack of muscles, they have a keg. Exactly. Actors that play strong men have well defined muscles. This is because they purposely tear their muscles and let them heal, which increases bulk at the cost of efficiency. Actual strong men keep their muscles healthy and lean, which makes them look smoother. This confuses people into thinking it is fat, as fat is also smooth.

Not entirely.

The whole process of tearing and healing muscle is involved in every facet of strength training (whether for aesthetic bulk or actual power) because your muscles do not grow unless your body tells your brain "we aren't strong enough for the tasks you're making us do, divert more resources to making us bigger as we heal." Lack of definition doesn't come from not tearing down muscles, it comes from not going on a super fat burning diet right before a bodybuilder competition. In fact, most bodybuilders look an awful lot like that strongman in your OP when they are "bulking" (trying to add muscle mass to compensate for the mass lost when getting ready for a competition) and only look like the quintessential bodybuilder most people think of when they're "trimming" (basically dieting and doing super focused workouts that target very small independent muscles to improve definition).

The strongman that you shared a picture of does in fact have a lot of body fat which is why he does not have the same definition as a bodybuilder, but if he tried to diet away some of that body fat, he'd inherently atrophy away some of his muscle mass as well, for no gain outside visual appeal, which is why he and other strongmen don't try to look thin. They have healthy levels of body fat for adult men.

The difference between definition and lack of definition in these guys is also directly related to how they exercise. Strongmen exercise using general strength building workouts that focus on making them stronger as a whole, where bodybuilders use specialized workouts and machines that allow them to bulk up certain muscles that a normal human will hardly ever use on a day to day basis, which makes them and the muscles around them more defined.

They were right in that its certianly looked strange and not much like Fiora, but to say she looked elderly and hideous was a serious overstatement. Defined cheekbones and a thinner face hardly make for an unattractive person.

And now they're calling the strongest dude on the rift "fat"

The normal gangplank skin is kind of hammy. I at i was with you guys but then i went on PBE to see the skin and his stomach is sticking really far out from the sides. He's no strong man he's a fatass. That again is hard to imagine since he was just blown up, nearly drowned and lost his arm. GP is a badass and you'd think he'd be able to work off those hams.

I'm sure he was sitting down for awhile but he's a pirate king. The last great pirate i knew of wasn't thicker then he was smarter, then his opponents.

No one minds fat Gragas or old people Zilean in this game they just don't like having unneeded and fairly easy to change shoved down their throats.

Remember how people complained that new Zilean art didn't make him look old enough and that he looked like a badass mid 40's guy. People like their consistency.

Is the face of a 50 year old woman, you need to take a step outside and take a good long look at some real humans.

Does she look different from Fiora's original artwork? Yes Is the change a bit shocking if you're used to original Fiora's round-faced look? Yes Does she look a day over 25? Absolutely flipping not. Like I said earlier, her face is thinner and her cheekbones more defined, but those have never been traits exclusive to the elderly. In fact its a facial structure that is extremely prevalent, and quite often considered attractive, in many parts of Europe.

Repeating what OP stated, this is not the body of a "fatass," its the body of a powerfully built man. Strongmen and people of stocky build's aren't usually thin, they're beefy. They're thick.

About the Fiora image, you showed her fixed version, not the old version people were complaining about.

The cheekbones are a bit toned down in the new artwork, as well as her lack of bangs making her appear even older.

People get their ideas of muscle from body sculpting, which is an entirely different thing, and a relatively novel thing. I've even tried to explain to a friend of mine that without specialized training and equipment, it's pretty much impossible to get Bowflex abs.

I have a reference chart of various Olympic athletes from every sport from hammer toss to curling. For the strength-involved sports, the athletes are very bulky with little muscle definition. They have muscle; you just can't see most of it. Even in movies depicting hunky beefsteaks (Thor, Troy, 300, Wolverine) they don't have the kind of body tone you've come to expect based on Bowflex commercials. They have a LOT of muscle definition, but that's as much tone as you're going to get without outright specializing in it, and people building for strength are not going to focus on tone, and vice versa.

So yeah, Gangplank looks fat because people are stupid and don't know what REAL muscle and strength looks like. He's not fat; he's BARREL chested.

I knew that. However, his previous model (captain Gangplank) he looked comparatively fit instead of stocky.

He seems to have just gotten way more barrel chested in the few weeks he's been laying low, which is weird as hell.

In captain gangplank, he just look proportioned slightly cartoony, but average in terms of build, I would say. In his new default skin, his belly sticks out noticeably more, whilst his upper body is just barely larger.

Also, look at his fuckin' man boobs in the new skin compared to his rippling pecs in the old one. How the fuck do they split apart so much in a few weeks?

Taking a closer look, there actually isn't that much difference in his body, it only looks that way becasue of his clothes, The pads make his shoulders wider and his waist narrower by comparision.

Also the coat on Captain Gangplank makes for several vertical lines which make him appear slimmer, while the new base has more horizontal lines which stretch sideways.

Sion is still very stout though. Like, the dude is basically egg-shaped if you look at his model directly from the front. Also, he was described as "a human battering ram" when he was alive. So he was likely very bulky... which he is.

The thing most people in this thread seemed to have missed is that a certain amount of fat in the body is good and helps the body function properly. So the op isn't entirely right because the person in his post is very very very strong but at the same time he has a healthy amount of fat which is quite a bit for a man of his size. The view of ripped abs isn't actually particularly healthy and as such limits the amount of muscle that can be built. So someone with defined muscle tone will definitely be strong they will not reach the level of someone who is just trying to get as strong as possible.
