Amazing new idea for Rito my god to implement.

Ok: Here it is, this is about a week or so of me thinking out the details for this, and I still think much more can, and should be added or taken away from this idea.

Keep in mind, this is just an idea, I have no idea if this will work or not, or if Riot will even care.

What if we had free skins? No, not random skins just given to us for free permanently, but like the free weekly champions, or probably a better time frame, depending on the skin, every day it changes, or every other day, every 3 days, etc. you get the point. I think this would allow players to really get to know the skin, before they purchase, while still being at a large enough break between the free skin "sessions" that you dont just have every player with a skin every game. Also, I'm not sure if the weekly free champions are random, or if they are 'hand-picked' every week or if there is an algorithm deciding who is free what week, but I am definite that this idea only works when there is a set schedule on what skins are free when. This is mainly because we ***may *** be implementing legendarys and POSSIBLY ultimates. (that is, if this idea is noticed and added :3)

The time would obviously change depending on the skin, as I mentioned above, and here is kind of what I had in mind:

First off, what skins, and how long. So heres my idea for ultimate skins: I say if ulti skins should be on a free-3-days (let's just use 3 days as the example time frame here, obviously they won't all be 3 days but whatever) it should either be that ultimate skins are never free for a short while, or they are very rarely, like every quarterly, or maybe even just once or twice a year. Specifically I was thinking if the ultimate skins were to be implemented, I would think three times a year, one for each skin, meaning one every four months. (again, assuming that this is implemented) And only for a day each. If you miss the day, you miss the day. Sorry, come again next year. For an example, sometime in April, let's say pulsefire ezreal will be free to play, then spirit guard in august, then finally dj in december.

Heres my idea for legendarys: I'd say they should be free to play for 3 MAYYYYBE 4 days, *but,* there should only be a few free to play at a time. Also, it would not be **every** 3 or four days, it would be once a month or once every two months or something like that. As an ***example*** you could have forecast janna, infernal susan, and dunkmaster darius free to play say february 1-4 or something like that.

Now that you know, basically, where my train of thought is heading, you can most likely piece together the rest of the puzzle yourself.

It would be awesome if you could leave feedback on weather or not you think this is a good idea, what time frames and what skins you think should be available, and what could be added or removed from this idea.

Thanks again,

Edit 1: Thank you to Balareon for pointing out that sometimes, skin showcases just dont do it for you! This is also a chance to have your own sort of showcase.

Editn2: MrPerson10 made an amazing point, nay, 2 points on this idea. It will attract more players to purchase he skins, ramping up sales as they will become excited after testing the skin. He also made the good point that this will promote especially to people who want to keep the game free to play, having skins on a somewhat 'regular basis

I like it, sometimes I wish I could test the skin out first, skin spotlights doesn't always cut it you know?

I like the idea from not only a player point of view but also a developer's, especially for those players less apt to spend actual money on the game.

The only part I don't like is it being one single day for the legendary skins, once quarterly. 3 days once quarterly would be more effective, since some of us may only play 2-3 times a week, therefore it will appeal to a higher percentage of people to "try on" the skins

Why do I like this?

  • For those who want to keep it a free game, it provides something more than the standard look that they can choose - regular skins on a more regular basis and once in a while, a legendary/ultimate skin.
  • Promotes the skins, potentially ramping up sales (particularly on Ultimate and Legendary skins that have a high cost) where consumers are less likely to buy it based solely off of splash art shown in the preview and won't have to wait to see someone else who has one.

they could make so much more money if they made them free

your post is pointless. You have no data to support your theories that it will help sales. With all the lack of facts you might as well say "Why every one would be happier with a BLU SUN". Riot is not going to listen to any stupid posts like this with out data. Giving away free does not necessarily translate into sales. Especially if you are going to have a new free every week. Why waste your money when you can experience everything for free?

So do you even care about the people that already own the skins? By giving a 3 days free ware (on timetables) is going to make skins ownership inherently have less value. Champs with free skins are going to be played more (and not by more skilled players) to use the skin. This influx of players rushing to the champ to try something free takes away from actual players. If they only own that 1 skin for that champ they will feel cheapened, after all everyone is using it.

Yes riot could put something better to show what a skin looks like. Your idea is not the way though.
