Announcer packs and other additions: Would they work?
It's no secret that announcer packs would sell like crazy.
But one thing people don't know about announcer packs is that they take a very long time to record, and take a considerable amount of money to fund. Let's put it into perspective. I do not know the numbers for this large of a scale, but I`ll try my best to make it comprehensible. Say a recording where to cost $10,00 CAD, and you sold them at $8.99 CAD a piece. That means you would have to sell 1113~ ( Rounded up from 1112.347052280311 ) to break even. That's a lot of sales, with a lot of room for error.
But it's not just that simple.
You don't buy things in league with money. You use RP. The closest amount to $8.99 CAD is 1040 RP, priced at $10 CAD. ( Did not include bonus RP for simplicity ). This makes pricing things a lot harder, especially a brand new, never sold before item.
If you want to bring something new to the table like announcer packs, you have to have more of an impact than just "Hey, new sounds!". That's just basic marketing. You have to make an impact. My personal opinion would be the introduction of HUD Skins and Loading screens. I may or may not be taking these by example from a different game, but the idea is still the same.
I would like to bring your attention to this: Announcers HUDS Loading Screens There are many more examples, but I do not wish to advertise.
But before you say "You can't just copy this from another game!!!!!!!", you have to see the logic behind it. Is this already in another game? It definitely is. But think about it. Literally everything is an adaptation of another thing commercially. Go to your grocery store and walk down an aisle. You will see many of the same product, rows after rows. You shouldn't be afraid of adapting if it's the only means of improvement. With that out of the way, let's just see if it fills the general needs and wants of a product in this market:
-
Does it sell? Yes, with plenty of proof.
-
Can we be creative with it? Can we have our own style with it?Yes, it has a vast amount of room for creativity.
-
Does it support the game? Can we implement it with ease? I would think so, but: I am not a programmer and I am not going to say I know what I'm talking about.
-
Does it affect performance? No. Lower spec computers should not have any issues. but, again, see the above answer.
-
Would introducing such things be harmful to the community? ( Toxicity? ) No. All of these things are client sided. You cannot use them to harass, abuse, or bully other players.
And, for the ones who care, not me personally: Does it promote the competitive scene? Yes. Very much so.
As a closing, I would like to state that I am in no way entitled to yell at Riot is such a form. I am not saying "give us stuff or youre bad and stupid riot!!". I am merely posting this as a means of explanation and suggestion of these things, and if they would be valid additions. I greatly understand the troubles of implementing an entirely new system such as this one. Thank you for the read, hopefully you see things the way I do Riot.
I wish they would just release it.
