Why can't we have a category for mastered (more than 3) champs in our profile?

All in the title. Just wondering if we could have something like this ( in the picture ) in our profile. Would be nice if everyone could see all our mastered champs or at least 8 of them. Enjoy

Heya,

This is a great idea, I'm excited that you've reached the point where you've mastered 3+ champions and want to have a record of them.

We're working on some new things for the champ mastery system, so please let me know the things that you like and don't like about the system.

At a high level, we'd like to evolve the system so that -

  • It continues to give you and feedback on the champions that you've really spent time on and have a mastery level over. We'll be unlocking additional levels for champions in due course.
  • You have additional goals around leveling up lots of your champions. I think this is the itch you're looking to scratch here - we want to recognize players that have really deep champion pools because that's a valuable achievement.
  • We have cool rewards tied to doing really well with the champions you love. We've established the grading system at end of game as a baseline language for how well you're doing in a game. It would be cool if we could reward you in a way that reflects your performance over one or multiple games.

What about some milestones that give small rewards? like an icon or something for mastering 3+champions, the icon could be the special emote you can use ingame. Or how about a special icon of the champion you have mastered if you get 100k+mastery?

HOW ABOUT AN ICON FOR MASTERING ALL THE CHAMPIONS... (probably impossible lol)

It would be nice if we got something cosmetic for champions we've mastered to a certain point.

The problem with the current rewards is they are just generic to all champions (the loading screen icon and the in game emblem). It doesn't give you any sense of accomplishment for mastering a certain champion because every reward is exactly the same.

I know bringing up other games is a no-no, but Blizzard gives away your paid "Chromas" for mastering certain champions in HotS, and this is awesome because it gives you something to look forward to for the champion you decide to master.

I hope you can come up with something along these lines, rather than more "blanket" rewards.

the grades are based on your relative performance compared to other players in that position with that champion. so if you had a mediocre game with jungle chogath you could get an S score, whereas if you have a good game with ADC vayne, you might get a B or an A- . while they may seem like arbitrary scores without considering this factor, you should find the score very relevant when you take this into consideration.

mu support ashe games? S score every time. i guess that means everyone else suks as support ashe.

iainB852 votes

I took that last comment out -- I don't entirely agree with individual scores, when they so often are dependent on how the rest of your team did that match, but that is besides the point. If Riot wants to reinforce them with more rewards then whatever -- I still stand by my desire for actual champion based rewards for mastering a champion rather than generic icons.

hey, for the rewards i think you could maybe tie in chromas with mastery? it would be hard at first because not everyone has chromas but they arent too hard to make are they?

Have you considered giving a Summoner Icon for achieving a high mastery level with a champion (presumably 6 or 7)? I mean, you could use those old icons that were never used in client (I believe they were used for Garena servers) - you know, these. Of course, by now you would have to create a LOT of new ones.

Or you could use the Poro Summoner Icons. You know, the ones that you created some time ago. Here's a link. In this case only a few more would be needed to create.

I'd like a specific mastery page, instead of just the champion page where you can see your champions. That, or make the information more extensive. I'd also like to be able to click on that little mastery tab on the profile and instantly see all my champions from best to worst, rather than just having them display when I click champions and then dropdown the box for mastery in order.

Lixius2 votes

I have an idea! For your main, like the #1 champ that's in the middle of the top played 3, should have a different emote separate from the other mastered champs. It'd be a lot cooler so when you show it off, we know that the champ is your main main.

Unpaladin2 votes

That would be so cool. Even if they added like a shockwave/bubble effect around it, it would be gold. Drop that disrespect real hard with an emote exclusive to a single champion.

How bout for the grades, if you get a good grade you get a little IP reward, it would help those who really need IP and it would encourage people to do well. S+ would give maybe like as much as a First win of the day

In all seriousness, I think you guys could take a page from Smite's book here. The mastery system in that game is one of the best things about it, constantly giving you points all the way up to a rank of 10.

They've integrated it heavily into the game. Here are a few examples:

  • On the loading screen, everyone can see your precise mastery level. In League, you're halfway there: you use symbols on the loading screen to represent mastery. However, in Smite, this is always shown, regardless of your level - whether you're a Rank 10 Diamond (to use their terminology) or an Unranked, everyone knows your mastery with a character.
  • They give icons based on overall mastery. A character is considered "Mastered" at only rank 1, which requires 50 points (roughly 6-10 games) to reach. In other words, they give you a mastery point only when a character is first mastered. This means your overall "Mastery Level" is identical to the total number of characters you have mastered.
  • ONLY MASTERED CHARACTERS ARE AVAILABLE IN RANKED PLAY. I really like this, as it assures a minimum level of competency with a character before you can take it into higher levels of competition. It also discourages smurfing.
  • There are mastery specific skins you can unlock with Favor, their equivalent of IP. This is a big one for you guys. In Smite, there are three mastery specific skins - one when you reach rank 1 (Gold), another at rank 5 (Legendary), and finally one at rank 10 (Diamond). This solves two problems at once: long-time League players who have long since capped out on things to purchase with IP will have more incentive to play regularly, and it also gives a tangible reward to your currently bare-bones mastery system.
  • It is significantly more challenging to take a character all the way to Rank 10 than it currently is in League getting to Rank 5. My favorite character in Smite is Sobek, and I played him for literally months straight before I got to Rank 10.

Obviously you guys will have your own priorities and ideas, but these are all extremely fulfilling as a player of both games.

I also think that it would be great if there were a requirement to be a certain mastery level with a champion in order to be able to pick them in ranked games (mastery level 2 would be fair in my opinion). This would ensure that a player has at least some basic knowledge about a champion they wish to play.

I am not very excited about current mastery level rewards. A reward should make you excited about getting it (like ranked reward, I'm supper excited about those). We can see in some other games with mastery level for characters that they offer some interesting rewards for achieving certain mastery level so I'm wondering if we can expect more exciting rewards in the future for "mastering" a champion.

Lord Dycedarg1 votes

Mastery level 2 is roughly equivalent to Mastery level 1 in Smite, so yeah, that would work well.

This this this this and more this, one of the best parts of this game to me is seeing my mastery level increase. (and one of the main reasons i dont play aram or 3v3's, which could possibly get their own seperate mastery system?)

Hey Mirros! I have a question for you! Would you mind answering? ^^

Well, this can sound a bit complicated but... What about those that have such deep connection with just one champion? Could riot make a special thing for they? I know that you guys want to highlight the ones that master many champions but this is my example:

Here in Brazil i am (or used to be) the top soraka player of my server. I have something like 300K mastery points with her and already got master and challenger playing only her giving important and deep feedbacks to riot with consistency and kindly helping others to stay motivated through soloQ.

I would love to have a "special soraka" picture for this achievment, or some white cool ring/aura with particles inside the game because of that (i like the white because i like thinking that mastering soraka would be a meaning for her return to her previous god state).

I have countless times opened discussions that had more than 10 pages around soraka and even called the attention of Riot Brazil prior her rework about her weak/overlystrong state! (two examples of my posts http://forums.br.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=190830 http://forums.br.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=323165)

I believe i have a special connection, not to say a history, with this champion and wanted to question: Would be possible to have some kind of unique achievement for those who go so far away of the curve with just one champion? I think it should be something really cool so it would feel like a recognition of your hard work and results, but couldn't be so cool or material that people would strive to achieve that over playing other champions (like free skins).

Maybe a particle that would increase in intensity or size as you collect mastery points up to 200k or so?

Thank you for you attention! :)

Obs: As a thanks gift for you attention, i am reporting a secret cool soraka bug! (see how nice i am?) If you ult with her and move your camera away, and then (after the sound of her ultimate nearly vanish) you press space, you will presence her using her ult again (actually just the sound :p). And you can do that forever if you like. Infinity amout of ult sounds, weee :3

Thank you! Soraka

Icons/bords/ingame effects themed with your mastered champion are good rewards.

Chromas are too.

can you also make it so that you can hover over the 'mastered' champ and see stats. like multi kills, win loss ratio, total kills/deaths/assists so on so forth. I think it would be cool if you can see how many games you have won/lost on a specific champion outside of ranked without going to an outside website.

A separate champion mastery for ARAM would be highly appreciated.

DeynaTaggerung1 votes

Having some sort of unique thing to get for mastering a specific champ would be nice, such as:

  1. Adding a new taunt/joke to characters after achieving mastery
  2. Chromas, dunno this one prob won't happen
  3. Add a laugh whenever the character gets a kill/assist (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/champions-skins/creative-spotlight/behind-laugh-singed) Teemo at mastery level 5 should get a global laugh whenever someone steps on a mushroom

Why can't we make it so that, once we hit level 5 with a champion, we get to choose one of their skins to permanently unlock as a background for our profile, sort of like how DJ Sona has a few herself. This would make it really rewarding and also create more individuality amongst players since you'd only ever get to choose one.

who cares? the champion mastery system doesnt mean anything. First of all, you get 4x more points SOLEY based on if you win or lose, no matter how well or how poor you did. So if you go 0-7 in a 60 minute game and win, you will get like 1300 points but if you go 12-2 and lose a 30 minute game, you'll get maybe 300 points. And you get nothing for mastering a champion anyway. Very poor design and useless system tbh
