It takes a lot of guts to stand up, admit faults, apologize, and make amends.
Yeah, it's PayDay 2, yeah it's not a MOBA. But you know what? OverKill, the game developers have been going through the exact same heat Riot is facing now. And guess what? They did it. (Read the Article, it's short and there's a TL;DR
TL;DR: We tried something new, we screwed up, we apologize, we're still alive and kicking and want to continue making PAYDAY 2 better all the time. Thank you for being a part of it and please be patient as we come up with something nice to give you! Almir OVERKILL - a Starbreeze Studio.
They admitted their faults, they apologized, and they have begun to make amends by not only removing micro transactions which plagued the game, but become more inclined to listen to players, and actually try to interact with them.
And you know what? I and many other PayDay 2 players have absolutely hated their use of microtransactions, and piss poor balance decisions. They admitted that they knew they would make players mad and would sacrifice players happiness in terms of profit and it showed. But they realized the error of their ways. They have at least tried to make amends, and though many players are still salt based, more are beginning to forgive OverKill and come back to the game.
Can you guys tell me with a straight face in the history of this game, have Riot ever done in 6.5 years, ONE of the things OverKill has done in what? A month? When have you ever apologized for making mistakes that the players have proven were mistakes? When have you ever given out compensation not for damage control, but because you were genuinely sorry you created an inconvenience for players? When have you ever taken strides to actually talk to the community in way that isn't condescending, 1-way-communicated, or publicly stunted. When have you ever put yourselves in positions where you actually wanted to speak with players not because they posted a funny meme or female cute picture, but just because you wanted to drop in and say Hi?
Ok enough sappy crappy. I'm not saying you haven't tried to do good. You have - Developing this game for one, is a GOOD thing. Your direction: Absolutely terrible. Opening player discussion: Amazing, your unwillingness to accept AND USE feedback despite you saying you want feeback, apalling. Fun Champions : Best designs I've seen in Mobas - Balance, pardon my language, F U C K I N G K I L L M E. The LCS, E-Sports is great!! But not at the cost of the game health. It's not €-$PORT$.
This game is dying. And that's been said before, and yet the game is still here. Why? Let's be honest, these loyal players are keeping the game alive, Riot, NOT YOU. But think of this games current direction as a disease, it constantly advances itself until you can no longer recognize what it's become from a while ago. And when this game regresses to a steaming turd, will people honestly still say, "Meh, people have said league was dying before, and it didn't" Well gee sorry for caring about the direction of the game and stating it's not heading in a good direction.
Why did I bother posting this? It's because I used to like this game. I don't really follow it anymore. But based on what I've seen from my friends and recent events, I've continued to shake my head. Hell, I wasn't even a heavy ranked player, but I didn't need Challenger to know that the system was beginning to break, and not because of a massive amount of players, or boosters, or stuff like that. I play other stuff, PayDay 2 being one of them. Co-oP games are less stressful but fun too! Heck I even tried CS:GO and that game is hardcore, but I could understand why it was fun for people.
I wasn't into competetive much, but It didn't mean I didn't like to compete, I mean such is the spirit of playing MoBas and such. I just wanted to add one of possibly final two cents into the mix before this game changes once again. I've already left a long time ago, so no door to hit me on the way out. This is mail. Still, this game is always changing, that's an admirable quality in a game that lives and dies on balancing. Yes, Riot are brave people, but twice the **stupider **. From what I've seen from that letter to the community from Overkill_Almir, they really wanted to clean up their act. Why couldn't Riot do so as well?
Anyways thanks for readying TL;DR: Came back to compare this games developers to OVERKILL developers and how one game, though smaller, has made more changes with community relations than Riot have done in 7 years.
Bye, later, etc. GD please no leakarino into this thread.
