Why ranked teambuilder is a bad idea.

I have a friend in gold 5. He always tells me he is better than me, because when we 1v1 on zed, he usually wins. Now, if he were better than me, wouldnt he be able to reach plat the way i did?

Unfortunatly no. For a few reasons:

  1. Zed and lee are the ONLY two champions he plays. When they are picked, or banned, he will lose lane.
  2. He cant play top, adc, or support if his life depended on it. I duoed with him a while back. And he could not stop feeding on jinx. No matter what he did, he always positions wrong, and dies almost instantly. Instead of saying "i need to get better ar all roles to climb" he says "i told these r%%%%%s that i cant play adc"

So how does this relate?

I earned plat by my variety. I may not be godlike in any one role, but I can play them all well enough to support myself in any game. I deserve plat because I cooperate and I help people. Not by being a one-trick pony saying "if i dont get mid i will probably feed"

TLDR: Challenger will be full of "one trick ponies" because everyone there only earned their rank by spamming 2,000 games with x champion.

Looks like he needs to open up his champion pool a bit. He might like energy based champs since he plays lee and zed so maybe shen top/support. Also don't see zed or lee banned at all these days so chances are they wont be banned in the same banning phase.

Just because you didn't one-trick-pony your way to where you are doesn't mean it isn't feasible. I've gotten up to Gold 1 almost solely as Nami (had a few games where I didn't use her on a whim, or couldn't).

There's no problem with people doing this. If they can only get so high and are stuck at a certain point because of it, that's up to them. For me, I enjoy doing it. I pick Nami only because I love it, not because I can't do anything else. If I could hit Diamond if I would only go Jungle as well, I don't care, because I want to play Nami and I will be content getting as high as possible with her (because that is my goal).
