Am I the only person who would like some of the swordsmen and women in this game who aren't Fiona, to use their big, massive swords in both hands when they're animated?

I thought Yi used to, but I can't remember that far back.

Again, though, am I the only one who'd like to see Yi swing his blade in a Katana like style, maybe Darius with his axe, and Kayle and Garen using their greatswords like real greatswords instead of anime blades, Mordenkaiser with his massive hammer, and the all the rest that use two handed weapons in one hand? Am I?

That's a really good point. Are there anyone other than Garen using a two-handed melee weapon? Darius usually attacks with one hand, except for his ultimate. Master Yi also cuts with one hand. Sion even uses his off hand to attack sometimes. It would certainly be nice to see someone who uses both hands to attack.

Garen already does.

Rest all have their reasons and justifications for not using 2 hands, except perhaps Trynd but hey he is a barbarian who is really angry.

I'm pretty sure it won't happen (as animating, even little sprites, is a LOT of work), but it would be nice if they did redo the animations for a few two handed champions. Preferably starting with Master Yi. MasterYi :D

You might be right. I know Jax Jax uses both hands on his lamppost, he's one of the rare few.

Err, not really.

**Master Yi **holds his blade with 2 hands but attacks using 1 hand. There is a reason for that because he is modeled after Chinese sword arts (EDIT: Not swords, Dao, they are 2 different things there) which use their blades with 1 hand primarily.

**Garen **does hold and attack with his sword using 2 hands.

**Darius **holds his axe 1 handed because he is holding the axe near its cutting bit, making it unnecessary to to use it with 2 arms. He does use 2 hands when serious, such as when he is dunking.

**Kayle **is not human, and possesses magic properties by default, thus her strength can not be compared to human standards.

**Mordekaiser **is a wraith who is trapped inside his armour either by choice or as a result of an external party's intervention. His strength is thus also not comparable with human standards.

**Riven **uses circular motions a lot (her Q) to keep her blade in momentum once she starts swinging it. Not to mention it's a magic infused blade, and it's already broken to the point of having not much else outside of the hilt.

**Tryndamere **is a barbarian noble. It's his personal preference to smash things with his impossible sized sword while using only 1 hand, as such you always see him dragging his sword around instead of carrying it, and requires full body action to swing it properly.

**Sion **is a modified human corpse + technology + magic construct, his strength is not meant to be parallel with human standards.

**Renekton **is an "ascended" human, he has the physical capability to swing his big thingy with 1 hand.

etc etc

Also, what's wrong with swinging big weapons with 1 hand? This is a fantasy setting after all.

Not to mention if the toons we're playing are not some kind of super human/entity by default, I doubt they would even qualify to serve as a Champion to begin with. Using 2 hands to hold their weapons is generally a choice/preference for these people, and not a must like your average joe.

Ignoring the whole realism aspect, and agreeing with you that it IS a Fantasy Setting, the issue is that almost all of the two handers do it.

Not to mention if the toons we're playing are not some kind of super human/entity by default, I doubt they would even qualify to serve as a Champion to begin with. Using 2 hands to hold their weapons is generally a choice/preference for these people, and not a must like your average joe.

So? You want both hands on your weapon, because you have better control and you actually hit harder. And frankly sometimes, having a person swing their sword in both hands is cool. Like Yi or Trynd.

That's not what I meant. :) No, human bodies are not that weak, the issue (if you want to stick realism in a game, but why?) is that the length of these weapons would be awkward to swing around, it's not the full weight, it's where it's distributed. But again, that's a silly argument in a game where you have a toy bear that turns into a furry Frankenstein's Monster.

It's more for visual variety. Personally, I'd like maybe one or two Champions to swing their weapons in both hands, Master Yi (simply because it looks his blade is a katana) and MAYBE Darius and/or Kayle. Again, variety for the spice of life. :)

While it may look like Yi is swinging a katana but he is a really not using one. As I said, he is modeled after Chinese bladesmenship which primarily uses 1 hand to swing the blade while the other functions in assist functionalities outside of holding the weapon.

They do use 2 hands to wield swords however, but not blades which are referred to as "Dao". Difference between the 2 is that 1 is mostly used in stabbing and the other used in slashing.

However yes, variety can be nice no doubt.

My argument (and I want to clarify that I am not saying you're wrong, I'm saying that from my perspective) is the way he holds the blade when idle, it's clearly Fantasy Katana, he has the weapon in both hands, legs parted in a wide (almost Horse stance) stable stance.

Also, Scholar Sword styles, aren't they closer to modern western sport fencing style, with a lot of thrusts and spinning light slashes? I remember reading, hearing that those Chinese styles prefer to not stick the end of the pointy bit more than 4 inches into a target (as that's all that's needed for a lethal strike.) I could be wrong though.

Yi clearly takes wide slashes with his attacks. Still, at the end of the day, I'm not here to convince anyone of anything, it's just me wishing that Wuju style was more Japanese Itto-Ryu, that's all. :)

Among other Champions with massive weapons, whom I'd like to represent both hands on hilt style. :)
