so im constantly getting reported for the dumbest reason and its really makes he angry because why am i suspended when someone can very easily MUTE me and not have to hear me anymore. its a freedom of speech country that i live in i can go out side say what ever i want to anyone in the street but since im on a keyboard i cant say what im thinking? this is very ridiculous and people only report when they get salty and THEY are the ones raging. so i look where to submit a problem to riot and they don't have anything that someone with a real problem would have on the submit list. so why doesn't riot have an actual support window or phone number we can call for someone to answer out questions. i feel like this would help so much. im not saying what i said was what i should have said but trust me they didny just mute me they said things back and also are the ones who started it. i feel like i don't need to mute someone because im not going to report them over getting salty or toxic. im bigger than that and i don't let keyboard warriors phase me so i dont know riot would care if someone else would do the same no other big games have that. csgo has nothing even close to this you can report people for hacks that's about it and that's about the only thing you should be aloud to get reported for. same thing with WoW nothing is reported able for being "toxic". riot has more things you can report someone for then they have to help someone with. i would like to know other players opinions about this topic and also riots because this is a very poor excuse for someone to ber suspended or even all the people that have gotten banned from this

WHY IS VERBAL ABUSE PUNISHABLE IF THERE IS A MUTE BUTTON/LANGUAGE FILTER? Players shouldn't need to rely on features like the mute button or language filter to engage with other players in positive ways. When a player verbally abuses another player and forces him to use the mute button, they have already created a negative experience for that player.

same thing with WoW nothing is reported able for being "toxic"

Actually yes, it is. You can get banned from the game for racial or homophobic slurs, death threats, and other extremely toxic verbal abuse. They just don't use the word "toxic" to describe it as often as we do here.

Retaliation isn't OK. It just makes it a worse experience for the 8 other players. If there was a player that initiated, they are most likely punished as well.

We consider the "Mute" feature to be a last resort. When a player has to use the "Mute" feature, the damage has already been done. Your experience is already worse, you are already less likely to play another game, and you already don't enjoy League as much as before. The "Mute" feature is a last resort to prevent any further harassment or abuse. Just because a feature like this exists doesn't mean it's OK for players to spew hate speech or be racist or verbally abusive. The vast majority of players in League hate these types of behaviors, and we should respect these players and not tell toxic players it's OK to be dicks just because a "Mute" feature exists.

Why can you get thrown in jail for slander or (extreme) hate speech? People can just close their ears and walk away, can't they?

Why can you even get reported for "harassment," being "toxic," and other things in that category?

Because nobody wants to put up with it.

Also, fixed your spelling/grammar for you.

Just because there's tools to ignore verbally abusive players does not mean it's ok for you to be one.

Freedom of speech does not give you freedom from the consequences of that speech. If you go saying hurtful things, people are going to call you out on it. You threaten someone's life, you can be arrested for threats of violence.

In addition, that Freedom of Speech does not carry over to private areas such as homes, businesses, or online games. If you are in someone's home and you are verbally abusing them, they are fully within their rights to kick you out. This also applies to Riot Games/League of Legends: If you are being verbally abusive to other players, they are fully in their rights to ban you from using their service, previous money paid be damned.

this is very ridiculous and people only report when they get salty and THEY are the ones raging.

If you are truly innocent, then nothing will happen to you and they will lose weighting on their reports, making the system not value theirs as much.

The "Freedom of Speech" thing means nothing in this case. It was created to allow people to disagree with government without fear of persecution. Using that in this case attempts to belittle it. Also, different "establishments" can have their own rules in a country with freedom of speech. For example, if you "rage" in Walmart, they have full authority to ask you to leave. Same thing with League.

It ruins the game for the other players that are trying really hard to win, which has always been the case for me. Whenever I personally see someone raging hard, it just makes me feel all that effort and time you spent during that game has gone to naught. I like this system because it gets rid of the immature in the community, so that the players that actually want to excel in the game can do so while enjoying it. There is no reason for you to rage whatsoever when this game is entirely dependent on your level of play over the course of many games particularly in solo queue. You are playing with players at your elo so you'll always get a little bit of the good and a little bit of the bad. I think its entirely a matter of perspective to the person playing the game, but muting is definitely not an out for this kind of behavior when you want communication to be key to winning. You might not win your lane, but if you can communicate with your team you can easily win games where you might have teammates that lost every lane! They should remove the surrender button, because I believe teammates give up way too easily and don't try hard enough until the very end.
