Hey guys I was playing Yasuo today and I was using auto cast and I'm sick of having to set it up at the beginning of each game. Should League introduce a system in which you can save which spells you want to auto cast for each individual champ. I think if it is put into the game it should be set up like item sets on every different champ that you play. What do you guys think of this idea should it be introduce? Do you guys even use auto cast?

MyAccountYouGuys3 votesI think Viktor and Rumble are two prime candidates for keeping smartcast off their E and R, respectively. Heck, maybe Anivia and possibly Azir too. Smartcast does NOT like abilities you press once to aim and again to fire, especially on the move. And I find if a champion has a wall, a range and size indicator is very helpful in making sure you get it down 100% where you want.
Skill shots and single target stuff though, keep smartcast on.
Deep Terror Nami1 votesAll you have to do is hold the button down and it won't cast yet, and will show you the indicators. The only spell I can think of atm that won't give you the indicator and auto-casts even if you hold is Zyra's seeds. The examples you gave are no different than skill shots. I think you just keep to practice those ones a little so you know the ranges like the back of your hand and don't need to hold the button down long to look at the indicator. But, of course there are many I assume who prefer normal cast for specific abilities like you, so I agree that Riot implementing this for those people would be a good idea.
AbiwonKenabi1 votesI've seen Diamond 1/Challenger players turn the smartcast off for Rumble's ult. These are the same guys who press tab for like a split second and see all the info they need.
Other than a select few abilities, I agree with you. Auto-cast is much better.
Eliowyn1 votesTry auto cast Q on Xerath.. there is no wind up time when you do, so it always instant cast it. There are a lot of champs like that.
AbiwonKenabi2 votesI don't play Xerath, but Vi's Q works similarly and all you have to do is hold it down for more range. Trust me, its better. Now go out there and lets see those Bjerg-style plays!
Deep Terror Nami1 votesNo it isn't always instant cast, you simply hold the button down...Both Vi and Xerath, and Varus too. It feels like there are a lot of players that don't understand you simply hold the key down and release when you want to cast (with autocast), and right click if you want to cancel.
AbiwonKenabi2 votesI use auto-cast for every ability except for Rumble's ult (don't know why, I always had trouble with it, whereas I had no trouble with any other ability). Be thankful Riot at least made it super easy to turn smart cast on and off. Back in my day, we didn't have any fancy arrow buttons on the options first menu. We had to SEARCH for our smart cast. :P
Billco1 votesFor years I did it manually with Shift-cast, but about a month ago I switched to Q-W-E on auto, with just R being normal. The first few days were a bit rough, muscle memory had me holding Shift again, but now I'm quite used to it. I've played 30+ different champs and have not felt any need to disable it. The only reason I haven't enabled R is so I don't waste an ult should I ever fat-finger it.
AbiwonKenabi2 votesMy Sona ults improved A TON with smart cast on. Like, easily ten-fold improvement. I highly recommend you try it on R as well, at least for some champions.
DerPunkt1 votesYeah, i never got why somespells should not be as we call Smart-Casted ( is it realy auto cast in the NA client?) Always felt like it is way easer to put everything out and never had any trouble with a spell going of where i might not want it to go, after all it still can be canceld as long you hold the key down when you have the range indicator activated.
AbiwonKenabi2 votesIt used to be called smart-cast (I still call it that) but Riot changed it to "auto-cast" for clarity I think. They may have done that in EUW as well you just didn't notice and kept calling it smart cast.
Deep Terror Nami2 votesIt's Quick-Cast. In LoL (at least for NA client) it's either Normal Cast or Quick Cast. Dota has Normal, Quick, and Smart Cast, but idk what the difference between their smart and quick is. Here it doesn't matter what you call it, people understand.
Worgslarg1 votesWhile I personally feel that using anything other than smart cast is intentionally harming your gameplay, I know that many players do not use smart cast for everything, and because of that riot should introduce this.
AvariceSyn1 votesThat is a lot of ridiculous work, imo. I don't disagree, but I have a current solution for you:
Bind your Auto/Self/Quick cast keys to separate keys or use CTRL/Shift/Alt QWER as intended
Get a mouse with 2+ thumb buttons. I use a Razer Naga Epic, but I was also using a Death Adder with MB4, 5, and Ctrl+4, Ctrl+5 as my abilities.
