Whatever happened to the "Loyalty Program"

A year or two ago, I saw a few different things about a "Loyalty Program" even with Rioter comments on it. It's been years since that initial thought was brought up, and the closest thing we have had to it was a free mystery gift for having good behavior. My initial thought was it was going to be reward steps from a combination of both money spent into the game and good behavior. It seemed like an idea with lots of potential, rewarding those who are dedicated to Riot, and the community, and punishing those who get repeated bans (regardless if they have spent money). Does anyone have any information to what happened to this?

They scrapped it because their studies showed that no option they could provide would provide enough goodwill to outweigh the badwill it created.

Whether that's valid is up to you, but that's a more accurate way to put it. The studies they did were targeted both to people who would have received ti and who wouldn't, and showed them anything they offered would create more bad will than good will... so they scrapped the plan.
