Varus or Diana
Should I buy varus or Diana for mid lane? I main tf, ahri, yasuo

I cant choose either. Varus is more assassin style but Diana has better burst.

is one of those "hipster" picks for the mid lane. While is one of those pub-stomping champions that counters lots of good mid laners.
They're two different types of champions
is a poke and AD assassin mid laners which can come very handy if you require a lot of AD on your team.
is a bursty AP mage/assassin which can truly delete someone in the blink of an eye.
If you're looking for a very safe laning phase, pick , but if you're looking for a champion that can carry into late game and become a true horror, then is your pick.

From a very basic point of view, Varus won't be able to do much against mid laners such as Kat, LB, Zed, and Talon whereas Diana is great at punishing those who get too close to her, mainly Assassins.
Varus is squishy very early on and unless you build some armor against your enemy mid laner, then he's a walking free kill. He can be pretty mana hungry too so that's something to consider. On the other hand, Diana's skills revolve around her dwindling the HP of her enemies to the point where she can Q and R and R again if she needs to. She has a slowing shield for those champs who like to poke from a distance and plus if anyone gets too close she can also draw them closer to her with her E in order to disrupt skills like Kat's R. In team fights, she's also great at going in to kill the enemy ADC as soon as she can. She can be a bit tricky to play, her Q for example takes some getting used to, but she is very rewarding.
All in all, Diana, in my opinion, gets my vote.
Varus is no mid laner, people really shouldn't copy everything played in the LCS. So i voted for Diana, also i main her and she counters pretty much everything as long as you can sustain the harass from ranged midlaners until 6. Always get flask unless you're playing against someone who can't really harass you, then just get Dorans Ring.
