My thoughts on the banning system (report bans, not draft pick)

I feel that the LoL community is very toxic, if people haven't already noticed that. For most humans that get attacked by other players, the instinct is to be toxic back because it can be hard to ignore it. Hence the phrase "for most humans" because not all are toxic back. However, I feel that whenever i am "toxic" back, i get banned more often than those who started it. For example, one would be having a bad game and people would say in all chat "report so and so". Then they would be toxic back towards the person and the fights occur, then the person with the bad game got reported and banned for negative attitude. On the other hand, the person who said "report so and so" wasn't banned or anything. Those are my thoughts on this subject, and I wanted to see what the forum community thought. This is my first post, so if i did anything wrong i apologize in advance. Thanks

Speaking from experience - over a decade of experience among online communities, all told - communities generally tend to be as good or as bad as the attitude you bring into them.

I've been the troll. I was a idiotic, angsty teen who thought the world was out to get him. I treated people online bad to help bolster my pathetically low self esteem(of course, I didn't think of it this way back then, it was just me reacting to the way they were treating me afterall, right?)... and when I went through that, every online community I was a part of was trash. I was constantly running into every type of troll known to man. Feeders, afkers, trolls, idiots... you name it. I saw it in droves.

I grew up, of course(with the help of a woman who was far more patient with me than I probably deserved ;)), and I'm a pretty decent sort now. I treat people as well as I can now(I'm not completely immune to anger, and sometimes things slip past me but... in general I'm pretty nice). Now, when I look at my experiences online, whether it be WoW, Hex, SC2, Diablo 3, League of Legends, Smite, twitch(I'm a fledgeling streamer now, with some of the nicest people I've ever met as regular viewers)... the people I run into are, for the most part, just as nice. Not saying there are no trolls, but there are bad folk among every group, that's inevitable.

The only two things that have changed are me and my expectations. I'm no longer inciting people, and I've learned to expect people to be normal, not jerks... that's all it took and suddenly I'm no longer seeing trolls everywhere I look.

Well i don't know the details but how can you tell which players got bans and which didn't?

If they are both toxic, they should both be punsihed regardless of who instigated it.
