I don't know what category this would go under, but I REALLY NEED HELP from anyone _ or any source. Basically, I just got an email back from our school principle about starting a League team. I asked him a while back if he would be open to it, and I expected him saying yes and coming to see him at some point to talk. Instead, I just got an email saying he MIGHT be open to the idea and I could come and talk to him tomorrow with printed information/presentation. I have no idea what to say or type to print/present so someone please help D: I've started writing some stuff up, just talking about what is eSports and what is LoL. I mentioned how many people are involved with eSports or League, and how many people play the game. I gave general terms on what Esports is and told what LoL is. To give some background, I go to a private Christian school that teaches kids from K-12th grade. Our high school has about 300 people in it total, and there are several kids wanting to do this (7 to be exact). So I have the resources to do it, but the principle wants to know why we should do this, how this "promotes" Christian values at all (blah ignore that I can deal with it later or make something up >>), and why should we create something that just distracts students from their studies. The best I can come up with is a) one of our "school pillars" is social life, and this promotes it greatly. This will put our students out into sports with other public school, something that we've never done before. And we think it's a great idea to open something fun to students that can be easy to do and cool to represent, b) I can talk about how League is a huge game and just like a sports team can build great team bonding. We started passing around an email for students to print, sign, and scan back with their signatures. So far, we've got our 7 people who said they would play and 108 other people that said they promote the idea and would even love to watch it. Sorry this is so long, but we've got the people and ideas I just have nooooo idea how to put it all together in a presentation by TOMORROW. Someone please help, any ideas are much appreciated, especially if it's exact paragraphs or something I can review and copy paste. This means so much to us, thanks so much <3

Tell about what esports is, how it can have a positive impact (e.g. working as a team and bonding through the game) and what exactly you are proposing (e.g. meet room 205 after school from 2:30-4:00, playing the game and discussing strategies or reviewing gameplay). The positive impact is that people who would otherwise play the game by themselves now have a place to play together, learn together, and grow together in a way that everyone feels comfortable. You could also say that it is healthy for the mind because you are actively thinking and communicating instead of just watching TV.

I got interviewed on Saturday by time magazine at worlds.

Basically go look at Rick Fox's explaination of why he wanted to buy a team. It's really telling of why eSports are so much like traditional sports.

Ask him why do schools promote traditional sports? I would assume it is to promote hard work, team work and comradary. These are all points he references in the article
