I strongly believe that no matter how serious a death threat appears to be, it should be reported. In my case I've received one from what I assume is a 16 year old teenager. I'm in no way worried but I believe this type of behavior should be reportable and at least punished in game.
I have a screen shot of the incident and would be happy to submit it for further review.

The most direct way is to submit a support ticket with the aforementioned screenshot attached. There won't be an exact category to select as this is not its primary purpose, but it can be relayed to the appropriate people for something as severe as a death threat.
Go to 'Support' at the top right. Select 'Submit request' and fill out the appropriate fields.
For what it's worth I agree with you, death threats can easily be used lightly but taken very harshly. When dealing with a global audience you have to consider the fact that your lines of what's appropriate to say and what isn't can be incredibly different from reality.

put it under verbal abuse
