"There is no talent in NA": A rant
On Reddit, there is an article about how that how everyone who says there is no talent in NA is wrong: http://www.goldper10.com/article/270?theme=respite
Ryan Tang does give an in-depth history of the risings tars and talent in NA throughout its entirety. He brings in facts about the formations of the powerhouse teams we have now, some stars who are gone, and some Challengers who are powerhouse. While this article does give hope that NA talent exists, Tang uses the entire course of LCS rather than this season, when this season has proven that NA's talent pool is draining.
Take a look at the Challenger scene right now. The top four teams have people former LCS players or career Challenger Series players, aka people who have spent their career in the CS and not in LCS. Team Coast is all former LCS players, CA is almost all former LCS players (Keane being international and Impactful being a career CS player), LoLPro is a career challenger team, and T8 is led by a former LCS with career CS players (except California). The top of our pool is filled with LCS benched/relgated players. How is that healthy to our talent pool?
LCS teams who need pick ups to fill out the team go internationally now, why? Because more talent exists in other regions which Tang fails to mention but instead pouts that NA has talent. Why pick up benched players or take a chance of a career CS player in a pool that more players are double-dipped into when you can expand that pool into other regions?
I do not disagree with Ryan that there is no talent in NA, but I do shout that NA's talent pool is dying. I might add that this maybe due to how NA servers are structured. We only rely on one part of NA when the other has no chance to deliver talent or have a chance to compete due to the server issues we experience here on the East Coast. But instead Riot choose not to extend servers, so we cannot extend our talent pool to the rest of NA...but to the rest of the world.
