Matchmaking and division solo Q /season 7

Hey Guys,

I’d like to share my experience on this start of the season in solo Q.

I finished plat 5 in seson 6, and I'm currently Silver II in this new season.

First of all I want to clarify that I’m not complaining about being back to Silver after finishing in Platinum last season. I did horrible in my 10 ranking games (finished 3-7) so I was kind of expecting going this down. But where I am surprised is that now in every game I play I’m matched up with S6 Platinum players. Sometimes my full team is ex Plat. I’m not checking the other team all the time but I assume it’s pretty much the same.

Finding some Plat/Gold players in the beginning of the season sounds normal to me, it was always like that since we all go down a bit, to climb up (hopefully) but I always saw some mix in the other seasons. Now in my games, there is really rarely real silver players (from S6) and I actually find my games in silver more challenging than the games in gold elo during the previous season.

So my question is: Is it because I have a high MMR (all things concidered, compared to silver players I mean) that I’m matched up only with players with a similar MMR or is it simply that all the ex-plat are in silver and all the others players in lower divisions? Because in my case it’s normal, I played really bad, so I deserved it, but I see other players that did great in the 10 pre-games and with good win ratio, yet they are in silver with me anyway^^.
