@Riot, I have a simple idea to improve Item Sets
My idea would give players the ability to edit the vertical layout of their Item Sets with one small tweak.
Idea: Remove the blank title bar graphic and title bar spacing of an "Item Block" from the Shop whenever the Item Block's title is left completely empty. This would allow players to create the illusion of multiple short rows inside of one Item Block when viewing their Item Set in the Shop without Riot having to add new features, but rather tweak existing ones. This would simplify attempts to organize items vertically.
Why?:
While playing with Item Sets, I created the following simple item set for a support (there's more to it, I just cropped it). ItemSetIdea1.png
My desire was to create a vertical, linear progression inside my "Core" item block for the various item stages of the Sightstone, GP5, and trinket, while having the pink ward on the side for easy access. I like to use this type of layout for core items because at a glance I can quickly see what I have and what I still need; it decreases time and clicks spent traversing the store. Trying to set this up though is slightly irritating, because it requires having to add additional items (in this case I chose elixers) to the block that did not "belong there" to achieve the line-break/2nd row effect I want. But even this tactic is sometimes foiled, due to an inconsistency between how item sets are displayed in the item set editor and the in shop**.
Eventually I settled with moving the Ruby SS, IQC, and Oracle's Lens into a title-less Item Block below "Core", even though I dislike how they're spaced apart in the store. But if this small tweak was made, the Store would display the two Item Blocks as one Item Block with 2 short rows, somewhat like this PS'd image. ItemSetIdea2.png
Even though I don't use item sets often, and most players I know don't use them, I still think Riot wants item sets to be used and shared...even if it's been nearly a year since they told us they were working on saving them server-side and not locally. I think adding such a simple tweak might give Item Sets more attention, broaden how they're used, and satisfy some players' small compulsions of making items line up neatly or creating visual flow. I do realize that improving Item Sets probably isn't on Riot's list of priorities because they're working hard on champ reworks, champ development, SR update, the Tribunal rework and more, but I hope improving item sets is at least on someone's back-burner, and that this simple idea might be seen and taken under consideration.
**the Item Set editor displays 6 item columns per row, while the Shop displays a minimum of 7 item columns per row when using the lowest available store width (the inconsistency between the displays could probably be fixed by removing some empty space in the Editor's Item Block display to make room for a 7th item per row?)
