I'm not sure which champ to buy as a backup champ for when my main is banned/picked. I main Orianna mid and I'm silver 4 (highest silver 2). I love champs that can do tons of aoe damage. I'm leaning towards Liss because she's easier to play and has more aoe damage, but Syndra is a lot more fun imo and can do tons more if played correctly. I just wanted your opinions because they both cost 6300 and I don't wanna regret anything.
Lissandra can go top if need be, but Syndra keeps up the ball theme from Orianna. Lissandra is a very CC oriented mage, and hinges on her ultimate to destroy people; she also has a pretty great escape tool. Syndra, conversely is dangerous with any of her kit, though you do need to manage her CDR and ball count to deal max damage.
I personally love Lissandra more.

I would agree with your decision to lean toward Lissandra though, especially if you are planning on picking one of them up as a backup.
Lissandra tends to be easier to learn and play, as you said, she tends to be more tanky and can be played from behind without too much difficulty.
The problem with using Syndra as a backup is that she does tend to require you to be ahead in order to be most effective. I agree, she is definitely more fun, as she is more powerful. You can absolutely carry as her, but you can also lose the game as her.
So again, my vote is for Lissandra, but if you would like to go with Syndra, go for it.
