Do you personally like the upvote/downvote system? Why or Why not? I've seen some posts being downvoted for the sheer fact that they want their own post above someone elses. What do you think about this system?

you should see the name of the down/up voter in the thread so trolls and bots can be discouraged and identified
Right now the system is creating downvote wars between various communities, so the end result is everybody is dragging everyone else down. It might die down eventually when people grow the f**k up, but at the moment it's a bit silly. Perhaps a limit on downvotes per day per account or some form of restriction on smurf accounts that do nothing but downvote.
It is not a good thing for community recruitment, there should be a separate board for clan recruiting where it cant be up or down voted, but based on activity.
I like it, it gives you an idea of what people agree or disagree with.
I put other as in so-so. Personally, I like it because you can use it as a way to agree and disagree. Or, I guess in some people cases from what i am told, to say if someone is saying lies or not? But what I don't like is like you said, some people downvote to get their viewed more often. Others downvote because they never have the situation occur to them, so they think it is false automatically (like when someone shares a facebook post thinking it is true without researching).
There's a lot of strange reasons why one upvotes or downvotes. But that wouldn't be an issue for me. Because I don't mind if my post are not notified. I just post when I am unsure of something, wonder if other had the same situation, consider suggestion, and other stuff. Who knows? A friend of mine even considered me to try Roleplay and Miscellanous community so... Upvote or down votes, it wouldn't matter to me. Like a normal game of leagues, just have fun and not care about upvotes or downvotes. Everyone has their opinion after all, right? [slayer-jinx-wink]
