I been wanting to see League of Legends on Steam for a long time. I think it would really be great and beneficial, like achievements and rewards and stuff like that. I would like to see why this would be a good and bad idea.
I see no point. League isn't really set up to do things like achievements or rewards. Riot had put an 'Achievements' tab in the client a long time ago, and it just sat there unused for a long time. Got replaced by something actually useful (custom item sets tab).
And tracking things like that is effectively all it would do for you. You would just have to have Steam running, select League, and then it would open up the LoL launcher. I don't really see this as an improvement in any way. If they wanted to make it actually launch directly from Steam, they would have to make a lot of tech changes to the current system. That wouldn't be remotely worth the required time investment.
Because that would be giving money to their direct competition, Valve. That's why not.
I see. I forgot that DoTA2 is a Valve game. Tried it once. Didn't like it.
League used to be on steam years ago, was removed because at the time valve wasn't really doing free to play games, but now that dota 2 is out i'm not sure they would be as willing to release it as it is its direct competition :)
Would be nice though
