Is it acceptable to say certain things to certain people

So a few days ago, I was playing a game and our Hecarim said he had to go because his cousin had, unfortunately, passed away the same day one year ago. We were all ok with it, when this Maokai makes a joke about his cousin dying. When Hecarim left, he made another joke, which to me is pretty unacceptable. One should never make the death of someone a joke, unless that person were on the same level with Hitler or something. But anyways, I was on the verge of losing my cadoodles and just straight up start saying things that I would end up regretting. But I didn't. I just said that what he said was pretty stoopid and something like that. Bottom line is, however, is it acceptable to end up becoming a "rage monster" or something if somebody says something way out of line or offensive? Would Rito end up taking action against it? Will there ever be an end to these questions!!??

He queue'd up, got in to game and then had to leave because of something that happened a year ago?

Nothing to do with this story, but cadoodles is my new favorite word

Karma Never become a monster to defeat one.

  1. Don't make fun of the deceased. That's just etiquette.
  2. Don't start playing a video game if you're well aware that you will be mourning that day.
  3. As someone who is currently banned, do not turn into a monster to defeat one. They aren't worth it. You can't do anything to fix it except report them. Let Riot do your raging for you.
  4. Piggy backing off of my previous point, it is possible to report 2 people at once. Not just one. Keep that in mind if you ever feel like raging to deal with someone who is toxic, you can get reported as well.

I hope this helped some!

How about you just play the game and ignore the side chats if you can't handle them? I completely agree, making fun of the deceased is horribly wrong, but if he wants to, nothing you say will change it. If you get angry over that statement, you just play poorly. If you have any buttons that can be pushed, just don't read the chat. I know everyone will argue with this, but with a pre-warning to ping if they want your attention because you will not be reading the chat, I see no problem here.

As for the cousin excuse, I hope he gets banned. He knew he shouldn't have joined a game if he had somewhere to be for any reason. Any reason at all.

As for the person making jokes, well, jokes are jokes, and offensive does NOT equal verbal harassment. I can be offended over your name. Maybe I have ADHD and think you're making light of it, and I feel terribly slighted. I feel you should be banned for offending me so bad (not really). My point is, if we banned people for taboo or offensive things, it'd get out of control. I still think no word should result in a ban, only the context in which they are said should. Even then, only personal threats or attacks should.

Anyways, to answer that question, yes, you'd get banned. Rightfully so.

That sounds like a terrible excuse to leave lol. I'll go into game and say something like below...

"Sorry guys. I know I queued for this game but I just remembered my grandma died 6 years ago."

I can see why hec was frustrated. Honor for him.

I don't think so (within this game) because there's so much toxicity anyway. Don't need to argue or focus on it in the middle of a game. Irl, certainly. The ass deserves to get decked. He probably wouldn't have the gall to say that irl though.

Something I take issue with though is the afk's reasoning. Why did he start playing if he was just going to quit? His cousin died a year prior or something, correct? That's unforgivable. If his cousin died in the middle of the game and they called him mid-game and he found out while playing, okay; emergencies and things of that nature can't be helped. I wouldn't be mad. But was that even the real reason? The story sounds bogus imo.
