Why are people rude to newbies in solo ranked?

So, is there any particular reason people have to be complete A-holes to someone who is new to ranked? I played enough to get ranked last season with friends, so pick order never came up, and as such I didn't even know it was a thing. I decided to solo this season's provisionals, so it was the first time I ever encountered pick order. Anyway, I got in, said "top pls" and waited for my turn to pick. Well I guess the guy in lead banned a jungler that ours wanted to use, so he went top instead. Confused, I asked why he did that and he said it was pick order. Even more confused, I asked what it was and he said "shut the f*** up and to take whatever is left". Yes, I acted in poor taste and quit the game out of anger, but that doesn't negate the fact that if he had just explained it to me, I would have been willing to go mid or even support. I kind of figured out what pick order was during that whole trade, but I still went and looked it up just to make sure I understood it. His actions seriously made me consider never trying ranked again. I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to not like playing with people who curse at me for being new to something.

I would like to thank most of the people who commented for proving my original point, albeit indirectly, that people are rude asshats.

To be honest, chances are you'll pretty much be cursed at for everything, from dying to 'kill-stealing', to anything anyone can scapegoat off of you.

Probably because "newbies" shouldn't be playing ranked matches.

Ignore the mean people op !

Now that you know the rules you should follow them, also you should get accustomed to not getting your role and champion. People are going to do all kinds of hateful things to you for seemingly no reason at all. People are going to over react to all kinds of situations, climbing the ladder is as much about learning this game as it is about learning how to interact with the people you will be playing with.

Best of luck to you op !

because it's so hard to read up on ranked and by doing that to find out about draft mode and pick order... sigh. play normal draft dude. once you got the hang, play ranked but please don't come into ranked with the the mindset of normal blindpick. It's called "competitive" for a reason!

How would you not know what pick order means? Do you not have English as your first language?

It's A team based game, so people will have expectations of their teammates. When people can't do their jobs it can be easy to get mad at them.
