Banned for not surrendering?

Alright so, I was in a crazy match just a few minutes ago. I didn't say a thing the whole game and I stayed with my team and tried my best to keep them alive , being a support and all. So when it came to late game our fiddles wanted to surrender, but I figured that we could still win if we grouped up a little more and focused the main problem in the match. But then started telling me and draven how we are being reported for not surrendering and being dumb about it. When I finally said something to him "why are we getting reported for not surrendering?". He just started going off how I will be banned and how dumb I was, so after the match he mentioned how I was gonna be reported yet again and to "enjoy your ban". So, I was wondering if you can really get banned for something so minor as not surrendering.
