Some sort of action needs to be taken against Garena

Ruling Update - Iron Solari League

I cannot even comprehend the ignorance and bigotry of this whole situation. And then for them to attempt to "resolve" the issue with a terribly written, half-assed apology makes it even worse. Their not actually sorry, just trying to cover their asses. I understand that Riot spoke out against their ruling, but there's no way Garena should get away with such a ridiculous statement without some sort of repercussion.

Agreed. Riot should not associate with this company if they want to implement those sorts of policies. I get that they primarily serve East Asia where social norms are different, but a multinational company like Riot cannot support or condone policies that support such narrow-minded views.

I just read the thing, and I was wondering to myself if this is real or not.

Stating that only 1 LGBT should qualify for a team is absolutely ridiculous. Hell if there was a team composed of gays I wouldn't have a problem.

Does Riot have the power to remove Garena's privilege to use their game in this tourney?

wow. i mean i am really not a lbgt proponent, but this made me spit the sip of coffee i just took all over the desk! if this was in the states, the lawsuits would be rolling in and the ACLU would be all over it!

Their statement boils down to pure sexism: unfair advantage because of male gamers. (tg = male = unfair) The sexism is surreal!!! LOL

So, unless they really are anti-gay/trans, the only reason to have this kind of ruling might be to keep the male players that they want to keep out from cross dressing and getting in anyways. That's the only situation that I can think of (aside from them possibly actually being ignorant dicks) that would prompt a ruling like that.

Now, here's the thing: This is not a game or whatever that men are inherently better at than women. They probably want to do this type of event for the same reason that gay bars exist; sometimes people want their own version of something where they can do what everyone else is doing but with people of similar interests. Women (of all types, even those with male anatomy who identify as female) just want to play a game they enjoy with fellow females. If a man cross dressed (posing as a trans woman) just to get in so he could stomp on women in a game, he's pretty much doing the same thing as faking mental retardation to win the special Olympics (sorry for sounding like I'm saying women are like mentally retarded people, just hear me out.). The social stigma of pulling a stunt like that pretty much assures that it won't happen. It would put a big old sign on his neck saying that he thinks that women suck at League, and that he needs to validate himself by beating them. Sometimes you really don't need real rules to keep people out; social mores keep a lot of people from doing bad things naturally.

Get your wigs and lipstick ready boys, time to rox the female leagues.

This decision was offensive and terrible. Retracting it with a half-assed apology downgrades it from "offensive and terrible" to "embarrassing and bad." I agree that Riot shouldn't associate with companies that do offensive and terrible things, but now that Garena's done the right thing (feebly), I don't think action needs to be taken.
