New Client Visual Recommendation?

One thing that I've noticed in the new client is that when you are chatting with someone, you no longer have the green, yellow or red indicator for whether they're in game, away, or available. I know this shows up in your friends list, but I thought it was rather convenient that there was an indicator beside there name. Is there a way this could be possible in the new client? Either with a similar system (with a less robust colour scheme) or via symbols in the chat window? That would be magnificent.
