Did Riot staple players last season ranking to their placements so that they cannot duo-q with lower tier players during placements even though everyone is "unranked". When I try to invite to my friend it says "Must invite a player between gold and diamond" (I was plat, friend was silver).
Yes. Your placement games are the most impactful of any of your games in determining your rank...as such they cannot allow bronze players to play with Diamonds or plats to play with challenger or w/e.
Ur previous rank still exists within the game's code, just like your MMR does. They both affect where you will be seeded next season...this season.
