I wonder what riot has to say for deleting a champ ( Hi Teemo ). i know this will only hurts the community specially the ones who main it. But has riot given a statement on it. i am talking about those champions who are still not played much after a reworks? Thoughts?

they wont delete a champ because of the players who main them and bought their skins thats like saying "we dont like the champ because its not played a lot so lets just get rid of it and ruin other peoples fun" why would they do that for no reason. Think about it this way bard has a 3% pick rate and the worst win rate of a champ in league but they didnt just decide to kill him off they trust players will pick him up and learn him but they wont just delete it because no one plays him.

Riot had said in very early days of LoL (se1 iirc) that there may come a day when they could retire champions. Most likely due to them having too much identity into something that's unhealthy for gameplay. (EG: super long term/60 second stealth...old Twitch...they fixed that with completely overhalling stealth/vision control instead.)

Though I think they went more with full rework method after that. So unsure if the early statement is still true.

I'd say it's possible they'd still delete a champ, but not from being underplayed. More overplayed and very unfun to play against, and no nerfbatting or changes properly fix them.

Some of the heavy reworks were pretty much deleting a champ and adding a new on in their place. (Sion)
