Noob brain dump

It's been about a month (give or take) since I started playing and I have the following remarks and questions:

I have wanted LeBlanc since I started but she hasn't been on free rotation to try, so I caved in and bought the pack with her this week. OMG! (Total excited at this point) did you know you could do go forward and backward with LeBlanc??? I then proceeded to go back and forth for an entire match. There are way too many fun champs, how the hell does anyone just main one and not go broke? (Yes, I realize this is so corny, but I get that excited over champs lol). I kind of just want to buy all of LoL at this point. I finally got to lvl 9 and bought a Cass skin, this is going to be worse than my purse collection.

What is the average length of a game? I usually put aside an hour to play, if I can't play uninterrupted for at least an hour I don't join, I don't want to leave the team even if it's bots. Lately I've had some games where by 15 minutes in people begin insisting we end (one even threatened afk).

What is QQ? And what is a weebo or however you spell it?

If you wanted to mute just the enemy team, how would you do that? No need so far but forearmed an all that.

OP is overpowered? I think I got that part. I've tried Riven and a couple others that are supposed to be OP and I really can't manage them well. I like Diana a lot and can't not die 4x before getting to lvl 6. Yet I played with a Riven you basically dominated.

Having trouble last hitting minions, is there a trick to that?

Being snotty is not the same as toxic right? I got a bit snotty with someone in a game as they were yelling (all caps) to end the game for a good 20 minutes. I ended the game and said "yw". It was just that one person but still :( I caved to being snippy.

And a large thank you to all of you have been super welcoming to LoL, I have witnessed relatively low levels of bad behavior despite warnings that this game was going to ruin my soul :).

30-45 minutes, but some can be as short as 20 or as long as 1:15

QQ was a term from another game originally, but basically now it means somebody is complaining about something, not because what they're complaining about is strong, but because the player is just terrible.

Push Escape, and under Interface, scroll down. On the right side is the "Turn off All Chat" option. I do this for every ranked game. I don't like trash talking.

It means "overpowered" or "original poster" depending on the context. Here, you are the OP. You aren't claiming that a champion is OP.

Having trouble last hitting minions, is there a trick to that?

First, make sure Auto Attack in gameplay is turned off. That kills last hitting. Then, go into a custom game with no bots, and just practice farming. Nothing else. After ten minutes, restart and do it again. You should be able to get about 70 in that ten minute mark, but at your level, even 50-60 will put you ahead.

Snippy isn't really toxic, per se. Toxicity is when you say things with the intent to discourage another player. A snippy remark like "Yo, I went in, where's the rest of the team, sleeping?" isn't really toxic, but it doesn't really help anything either. I think we're all snippy at some point.

And a large thank you to all of you have been super welcoming to LoL, I have witnessed relatively low levels of bad behavior despite warnings that this game was going to ruin my soul :).

You're welcome! :D Have fun! Add me if you feel like it and I'd be happy to play with you.

Get ready to sell your collection to fund your new addiction.

Generally an hour for PvP, and twenty minutes or less for AI games.

QQ'ing generally means.. bluntly put, bitchmoaning. Or whining. It's called so because the QQ looks like an emote of two eyes crying. And a weaboo is a term that's essentially the offensive equivalent of japanophile I guess.

If you wanted to mute just the enemy team, how would you do that? No need so far but forearmed an all that.

Press and hold the TAB button and just click on the little bubble icon on the far right.

Some champions are easier to snowball with, some champions are harder to outplay, etc.

Practice, AD runes, and lots of practice. Try setting up a custom game for yourself against a bot or two, and try farming against them.

You're fine.

People usually don't main a champ until they get to ranked (LvL 30) matches. And even then, most people main 2 or 3 champs. At lower levels, experimenting with champs is crucial. Find the champ that makes you, you. You can learn them all if you want, but everyone has that 1 or 2 champ(s) that they do exceedingly well with, and that is generally who they will main.

A game of PvP requires at least one-hour free time. Its how much time I leave open. You're getting into the level range where people become very toxic, so you'll have to learn how to deal with people threatening to AFK, or Feed, etc. You can just report them after (just don't argue with them in game, it gets nowhere).

Other replies have explained QQing and weeaboo to you, so I don't have anything to add.

You can either tab and click a little icon to the right side of the person's name, or type the command /mute (summoner name).

Most "OP" champs require a LOT of practice to be OP. If someone knows how to use Riven, I've seen one get 70 kills in a PvP game. I still don't think she's OP, but just the person using her was good. I could be wrong, but eh.

Last hitting is eh. A lot of people just wait until their minion wave wears down the enemy wave, and then auto-attacks them at low health to get the last hit. The other thing is just auto-attack them the entire time and hope you get lucky/out dps (damage per second) the minions.

Toxic is: Rude, flaming, trolling, etc. It simply means that someone (or multiple people) are making a negative environment. Arguing with a toxic player gets you know where, a snarky remark won't hurt, but just don't push the argument and let it die out, and report them after. (Please don't be one of those jerks who ask people to report someone, unless they were actually doing something very bad, i.e feeding, intended racism, etc.).

Welcome to League. :) I've been a part of the community for a year and a half (I couldn't play for most of that time due to computer issues, hence the low level), and there are some amazing people on this game. Of course there are the toxic players, but every game has that. This community is rather supporting, and pretty helpful.

See, you guys are awesome! Thanks so much!! I will definitely add you, Lao. Don't worry ActuallyArrow, one of the first things I read is that stating in game (or lobby) that you intend to report or asking others to report is also considered toxic and honestly at that point I just want to focus on finishing the game so I can get away from it, not prolong it with more typing.

Ginnji, thanks for reassuring me. I might have to sell my power tools, the kids, and the purses :) possibly rent the husband out at this rate.
