On Lore, Lore, Lore... a humble request

I know you guys are working hard to make lore a part of the story once more, and I appreciate that. However, the nice thing about the Journals of Justice and the League Judgements is they gave personal insights and depth to both the world of Valoran and the characters themselves. Riot's recent efforts at lore have been decent, however, we are still missing the depth the old format had. In addition, the story is really not progressing how the old lore made the story progress.

Riot, please, can you give us any details on how you're going to reintegrate lore in a progressive way for the game? I miss the depth and progression of old lore

It really bothers me how they're all "WE'RE EXPLORING NEW LORE DELIVERY METHODS", and they're always delivered as login screens and "sneak peeks" leading up to the release of the champion, which is GOOD, but frankly lacking and unefficient. I consider those to be "soft" lore, whereas I'm really interested in "hard" lore, which is not necessarily a giant chunk of text (though I would buy a LoL book in a heartbeat), but rather something that delivers more than just a little bit of lore.

I've seen the suggestion of a comic or graphic novel thrown around and I really do think that would be a great idea, because it isn't a wall of text and it has the opportunity to tell a little more than, for example, what Quinn's sneak peek art did. Imagine a 2-part graphic novel about the Noxian invasion of Ionia and the Ionian retaliation, or an ongoing series about Vayne's investigation of the Black Rose and Noxus, or just about anything else. The possibilities are endless, and I feel like, if all we continue getting is sneak peek and login delivery, we're only going to get new lore, or at best, slightly continued lore due to the addition of a new champion in an arc, but never a true continuation of anything happening in Runeterra.

If the lore continues, that could mean new and interesting things for champions, and not only that, but it could also have in-game repercussions. Riven could decide, for example, that Noxus is not to be trusted again for their misdeeds, and decides to immigrate to Demacia to join their army to fight back against them, which could result in a new Riven skin featuring her in Demacian armour, and she would thus no longer be considered to be affiliated with Noxus.

I agree 100%. I feel like the lore made it more than just a MOBA, I personally love when I get to see a Kha'zix and a Rengar match up. The quest is really fun to see progress.

These small things are what makes it better than other MOBAs and keep fans that are in it for more than just hard core solo que enjoying a bit of side action.

Another great example was the Noxian vs. Ionia game, it really made me look into the lore more and start reading the champions backgrounds and relations.

not much to say about this besides +1

Been a League lore fan from the beginning (joined on Akali release patch), and I miss the hardcore lore that was being released with the JoJ. The Softcore lore releases have been really, really nice (XX lines on the Howling Abyss, and easter eggs in H.A. and Twisted Treeline), but they are very limited in scope.

I have been waiting for continuations/resolutions to the JarBlanc (Jarvan IV as impersonated by LeBlanc), General DuCouteau's disappearance, Kassadin's Daughter, and more storylines for a long time.

Roit Pls!

The funny thing is, the Runeterra, is actually such a beautiful world, and totally innovative setting. I mean, it's not going the same direction as other 'modern fantasy' settings went. It also introduces game mechanics (some of them) as part of overall storyline. The fact, that you are a badass mage, linked with the mind of another being (Sona - best storytelling example EVER!), and not only your actions help shape world's future (Noxus vs Ionia Rematch, anyone?) but also are entertainment to the devastated (which isn't shown much, sadly) after the last Runewar world (Orianna's story, showing champions as celebrities, is a great example). Also we had the entire Kalamanda backstory, which showed a little behind the scenes of the world big powerhouses...

I don't necessary advocate bringing JoJ back (from the technical standpoint it was actually a lot of content, that needed to be translated into many languages...) but the Twist of Fate cinematic was a big disappointment for me. It seemed like a bad spinoff where the writers just didn't get involved and only people responsible for graphical fidelity did anything.

Well, they are a company so maybe they took away the free lore in order to make some books like Shindo Shuichi suggested. Either way, I'd like to see something come down the pipe!

True Like they need to do a Lucian Vs Thresh or a Darius vs Garen. Or even for that matter Swain Vs Jarvan.

did they do away with the lore page altogether?

I just did a search, and at no time in the past year has there been a red post in response to any thread with the word "lore" in the subject line. I find that very interesting, it seems to be something a significant potion of the community cares a great deal about. Does anyone know why riot wont talk to us about this? There isn't even a subsection on the boards dedicated to it. Whats the deal?
