Punishing the Wrong People in the Wrong Ways in the New Dynamic Queue
Alright. Throughout the course of the day I have played three games of league. Before the third we got in a queue where I failed to select a champion and was put back in queue, but beforehand I, and my three friends, were required to wait five minutes before we could queue, because of my mistake of failing to hit the lock in button despite having a champion hovered.
This was frustrating because I made a simple mistake which has only been in practice for a few days. I wasn't just trying to waste everyone's precious twenty seconds, but I sincerely forgot to click a button. BUT no big right? Five minutes. First time mistake. No big.
A few hours later four friends and I queued up and were put into champion select, but during bans my internet went out and my client froze. Yada Yada Yada long story short my cat unplugged my router. Annoying but another "no big deal" type thing. Takes me less than a minute to plug it back in and reconnect to the client. My friends, who had been put back into queue, sent me another invite, but once I had accepted the client informed me that I had to wait thirty minutes, I'll repeat for emphasis, THIRTY MINUTES because I had left too many champion selects.
Two. I had left two in the course of three hours.
So my point; isn't this a tad over the top? Don't get me wrong, I agree there needs to be a system in place to discourage people leaving queue, but thirty minute bans on the second offense?
I would maybe, MAYBE, agree with an ascending punishment time, i.e. five minutes then ten minutes then fifteen minutes ect, ect, so on, and on.
I also ask; is the only reason they have required the "lock in" is because they think that will make the champion select quicker? Like those thirty seconds are what people have complained about, honestly?
"Yeah, I wouldn't mind playing a thirty minute game of league but I just hate sitting through those ten extra seconds before everyone locks in. It waste way too much time." - No one
If nothing else I would ask they implement a system where it selects the champion you are hovering instead of the mini ban.
So any contradicting thoughts?
And if so what are the reasons?
Thanks!
