Hey guys, welcome to the inaugural 'Meanwhile in Top Lane...' post, with hawt new banner courtesy of Crazy Boris.

A lot happens in a week - interesting discussions constantly pop up throughout the League ecosystem only to be replaced by the newest hotness and fall out of visibility. Hot topics of discussion don’t always stay that way for very long, so unless you’re on top of it all day every day (and who has time for that when there’s a ranked ladder to climb?), it’s easy to miss a lot.

As we mentioned in our test post, with this in mind we'd like to try out a weekly post featuring some interesting conversations you may have missed as well as upcoming discussions opportunities.

Lyte conducted an impromptu Q&A on the status of the Tribunal, during which he shared and discussed new features that will be gradually implemented once it returns.

MSI and East Coast ping

Folks pointed to pro players getting LAN accounts for MSI practice as all the proof needed that East Coast ping is less than awesome, and we jumped into the thread to discuss our latest NA server initiatives.

YouTuber Redmercy AMA

Redmercy (known for his LoL videos and being the self-proclaimed worst Zed NA) addressed pressing questions like "How long have you been Russian?" Oh, and ones about his process and craft or something.

It's nice that a red posts about a hot topic concerning the Lore and the lack of communication.

Really sad to see a lack of red posts within that particular thread, though.

Well,Rioters have this thing of not commenting in threads outside their area of expertise.While ADillonMostDirty & his team noticed the thread & acknowledged there's a serious discussion happening there,it's very unlikely they will post in the thread themselves since they probably don't have much to say on the subject of lore,especially a serious subject like that. In other words,the chances of a Rioter who doesn't work on or with the Narrative commenting on a serious lore thread is low.Unfortunately though,the chances of a Rioter who DOES work on or with the Narrative commenting on a serious lore thread like that is equally as low.

mh, I'm not all that familiar with riot staff but from what I've seen NO ONE is working/commenting on lore... like at all. I understand different types of rioters comment on different subjects So why not just a general high rank rioter? Or maybe Riot tryndamere himself? I mean, all I'm asking is a update that does not involve "Soon.(™)"

No one you've heard of. It says right there in that post that the Rioters are probably too scared to currently speak on this right now. I'm sure they're still working on Lore.

Maybe higher ranked Rioters aren't as informed in the specific subject as you make it sound since their jobs are focused on more company wide thing.I wouldn't expect Ryze or Tryndamere to be busy worrying about the lore since they would likely be focused on running the company.

I suppose... its just that from what I've seen I'm inclined to think the only work they're doing on the lore atm would be shortening it as they've done with ammumu's. Then again they could be preparing some giant lore revamp, who knows...just a bit annoyed we get left in the dark so much when it comes to lore.

From what I can tell from the few Red Narrative comments we gotten over the last 8 months,it does seem like they're working on some giant lore revamp.Well,I hope what they're working on is a large scale update.I don't care if they do it all at once or over the course of a short period of time.It would be quite the....move if they only come out with some small update after all this time. According to long time lore fans,Rioters being silence about the lore isn't a new habit unfortunately.And despite Rioters comments about wanting to break that silence,the silence still continues with no end in sight.

Actually, there's nothing preventing a Rioter from commenting on any thread they're interested in. However, there's a company-wide paranoia over releasing info before it's almost done, mostly due to long delayed projects from their earliest days (Stealth Rework, Soraka Rework, Magma Chamber, etc.).

Let's not forget Ao Shin as one example of talking about a project too early. I think there's also the reason that Rioters don't want to misinform players,have their comments misinterpreted or giving non-satisfactory answers to threads that want answers.

But like you said,there's nothing physically or legally preventing them from commenting on threads about topics outside their expertise.I'm sure skins team members have opinions about gameplay topics,balance team members have opinions about the servers issues,lore team members have opinions about the E-sport,etc.Hell,I've seen a few Rioters who done this.These boards are a place for players to share their opinions & discuss whatever topics they have something to say about.This applies to all & any Rioters as well.They don't need to well informed on the topics to have an opinion on it.All us non-Rioters aren't well-informed either.They shouldn't be deterred by the tone of the thread either.

If a Rioter on the gameplay team have something to say about the lore,they should feel free to say.Just make it clear you aren't on the lore team & that you're just stating your opinion.But,most of the Rioters we see on these Boards choose to stay in their field of expertise.

Totally agree that this week was reddit-heavy, so sorry if that gave the impression that we plan on prioritizing it over boards threads. We're aiming for a more balanced mix of the two in these posts.

That being said, we feel it's most important to include the most interesting conversations out there regardless of where they are, so occasionally you'll still see a reddit-heavy week (but equally so, sometimes you'll see a boards-heavy week). Hope that makes sense!

Lol so I'm supposed to join reddit to see discussions about League now because the League Board isn't good enough for League discussion? xD......sigh. Sorry, but it seems to always have priority these days, what's the point of having the Boards? Trying to wrap my head around this. Boards should always be "heavy week" regardless.

Kidding of course, I think it's a great first post from what I can tell skimming around. I think you may want to consider adding this post from scarizard as it's time sensitive and not everyone journies into the Gameplay & Balance board. Otherwise I don't have much to suggest adding content wise what with finals being a thing. Haven't been lurking around as often I usually do :P

Starlighte's lore post is up there and I mean, hell, I actually did miss that skywilliams vid until I saw it here, so mission accomplished guys!

I am really scared of the Taric rework. Now that I mastered him in so many lanes I am afraid for him. And I am kind of sure that Riot is going to delete the only point and click stun left in the game (because you know, they can't let anybody to touch those mobility creeps). I hope he is still an anti AD champion or I don't know. I will really be disappointed to lose one of my favorite champions.

I feel like the only problem with the new lores is that they lack the ability to truly impress. They have fallen into either short little stories that leave us wondering what their character's background is like, or they leave us wondering what their character is like through just giving us a skeleton outline of their background. I wish that they would come up with something truly amazing again, considering that for me, the last good lore was given to Yasuo, and every champ since has just felt... very, very mediocre compared
