Summoner Tooltip in Client

Along with the new "frequently played" tooltip and a host of other scrollover functions, there is now a strange number next to an award icon on the summoner tooltip. Does anyone know what it means?

That is the "Champion Mastery" number. The total number of levels that summoner has achieved on all champions. ATM max should be 620 (124*5).
