Tired of the Toxic Community

This will be my first and probably only post on here. I have played this game fairly frequently for the past few years. I want to put this mainly as a warning to other casuals who may think this game has become better with its "toxicity".

I have gotten absolutely tired of the community in normal games. Let me repeat normal, not even ranked.

To be fair I am bad at normal, I hardly ever touched it and always had fun in ARAM the reason being it was fun and I was told normal was full of overly aggressive assholes. However I thought why not give the real game a try. Well I have found my reason.

I have yet to run into a normal game where people will actually give me criticism instead of just cursing at me, reporting me for being unskilled, and whatever else. I'll take any advice I can get but guess what? There never is any. Even if I blatantly ask "Hey I'm trying out normal, I would like some tips, what are they?" I'll most often get a response of "Don't die", "Don't suck", or whatever other insightful revelations they come up with. Then when I do badly they get mad at me and report me. Oh how fun.

It's even started to leak into ARAM games and well I plain don't want to deal with it anymore. I used to defend this game but I can see why now it gets such a bad rep. I'm glad so many people enjoy it and I'm sure if I spent hours upon hours improving myself I would too (mainly because people would actually be nice for once) but I don't want to sink time into a game just so I have the potential of possibly having fun.

To all of those who will say "QQ", "Stop taking it seriously", "It's just a game". I agree it is just a game, which is the exact reason why I should be able to go play a match, have fun, and do all that without having to deal with assholes. In fact I should be able to be whatever skill level and not get hammered on as long as I'm not intentionally ruining it for our team. Who would go to a gym, soccer field, or whatever other activity when there is always a band of assholes that constantly feel the need to put you down and never even bother helping you to get better? I wouldn't expect anyone to continue playing any sports if that were the case, so why is it acceptable here? I refuse to support it anymore.

This game used to be something I could just play to relax and have fun, so thanks a lot to those who ruin that because every game you have to be a pro or get reported for being new. Maybe the game was always that way and I'm just realizing it now because the fun ran out, but either way Riot has lost a fan.

I understand it's hard to manage a player base in the millions but it something that I cannot deal with any longer. This will likely make no difference but I hope someone who is thinking about spending any amount of time in this game at least reads this first before they decide to bother.

Thanks for the times that were fun Riot, and I'll soon forget the rest.

Not giving you any wrong - mobas are merciless, and people on the internet too.

I could make a salty note about "oh fuck it bb gonna se you soon" but, y'know what? try to have a fun time, when ever you go!

People take the game too seriously, which is pathetic when it comes to normal and ARAM, both of which are meant to focus more on the fun side of the game.

But, the community is a hellhole and it doesn't seem like it will ever change. I understand it occurring in ranked since that's meant to be competitive, but it seems all of the children too bad to climb the ladder decided to take their toxicity into normal. Sometimes I wonder why I didn't quit playing, but I guess I find the good moments of the game too fun. It's a shame, if anything kills this game, it will be the community. Same thing happened with HoN, that game poisoned itself a slow and painful death. Was the game bad? Of course not, it was a great alternative to DOTA for veterans that wanted something more updated. Sadly, getting cursed at and kicked from a match (that's right, you could get voted out of a match) because you didn't buy boots, or an item someone else wanted you to get, isn't very fun.

Now we have DOTA 2 which is, again, toxic but at least you can play the game.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the competitive side being so popular, I wouldn't see either game lasting much longer. But, they'll probably keep thriving while the rest of us that don't care slowly leave.

Fun games, but the community is becoming unbearable. I play to have fun, not get raged at by some 12 year old. Yeah I could mute them, but that's also throwing away team coordination, which these games rely on.

Most of the toxicity that matters is in ranked.

People are toxic because the system is toxic.

You can't judge and give out badges to people that are supposed to represent their individual skill level and then decide to heavily balance a game around teamwork and teamwork being necessary to win and then drop players into a SOLO queue environment. Those two ideologies simply don't mix and the result is a ton of frustration, anger, and what people call "toxicity".

If you want to make the game non-toxic, remove solo queue. Make normals and Ranked 5s the only game modes, so people don't need to deal with stupid teammates that bring them frustration.
