My mmr is high platinum from last season although I decayed to gold from inactivity.
My first placements were against gold opponents and even after running a 9-0 streak carrying each game I haven't even faced a platinum opponent.
I think I am going to be screwed and stuck in gold even running the dream :(

The system was adjusted this season to give less credit to your placement matches and more credit to past history (especially if you've played a lot of matches in the past) to prevent people going way above/below where they belong.
You also have the reset bringing you halfway back towards Silver 4. In aggregate you probably started those 9 matches at Silver 1 / Gold 5 elo, and going 10-0 should bring you up to Gold 1 at best I would imagine. I wouldn't call it getting screwed... especially if you're carrying every match you'll reach platinum 5 again quickly enough.
Yes Riot will screw you. Expect 1-2 AFK's in your match. Don't worry about positions, pick what you are strongest at and play that.
