The Tribunal System

Hello, I'm writing this to ask a simple question:

Why was the tribunal system created if it is in "recess" all the time?

I'm becoming increasingly infuriated at players who decide it is better to waste 4 other people's time than to try and win a game. In all honesty I believe the tribunal system worked only partially (that time being when it was created so players would give back to the community); however, it is apparent that the system is no longer being used effectively. I can assume quite accurately that players are going to spend more time playing the game than to spend time looking at other games to determine if a troll or a disconnect truly deserves a ban. I myself have only afk'd in games due to connection error, where i spend more aggravating moments trying to reconnect to the servers, but I digress...

Maybe I'm only writing this because I recently experienced a game where someone afk'd purely because he refused to take criticism, even though he back lashed at the team very hard...or more likely because while the enemy team began to take the nexus he decided it would be funny to prove he was there the whole time by running out of the base...or maybe because after the game ended, while everyone unanimously agreed he deserved 9 reports he continued his toxic tyrant by claiming words that really stuck:

"there is no tribunal atm, I won't be banned"

So I checked it out, and he is right. There is no tribunal atm. There is no justice for people who decide it is "ok" to back lash at their team. A team (which I might add) tried very hard, very diligently, and very patiently to win a 4v5. It aggravates me to see a once very looked down upon action go so unnoticed in the eyes of Riot.

TL,DR: Tribunal system is flawed, there is no hope for summoners in the league.

You apparently have missed all the people whining about their two week bans in the last few days. Which has also occurred periodically since Tribunal was taken down, in addition to chat and Ranked restrictions being handed out.

Tribunal is down, but that doesn't mean players who misbehave aren't getting punished.

This assumption is spot on. I believe you deserve a little more credit for Riot; however the tribunal system is not at its best.

While it's true that the Tribunal isn't active, that does not mean that there are not other systems in place to address these issues.

They recently made a post about it explaining generally whats going on. They needed to make a more efficient tribunal system so they temporarily stopped the tribunal. They do however have another system in place that takes care of reports. If that guy was as bad as you say he most likely will have gotten some form of punishment due to the number of reports. There is justice for these people.

Riot replaced the tribunal with a more automated system, only having real people at Riot review extreme punishments. For some reason the Tribunal didnt get the memo, and thinks it's on recess, though.
