I think the new champion is an executioner

I think the new champion is a stance changing executioner.

"All things must meet this man. So, they shunned him."

Executioners are obviously associated with death. 'it's time to meet your executioner'; 'i am judge, jury, and executioner'. There are references all over the place associating the two.

"He took an axe and split himself in two."

Most game lore associates executioners with one of two weapons; a claymore or an axe. Two weapons, maybe refer to a stance changer or just the axe.

It fits the persona of wolf. The man was lonely and began to go mad. Executioners are often depicted as silent distraught types, so in that loneliness and madness wolf cuts himself in two.

This is just my theory, I believe the champion to be a humanoid.
