Updating The Pbe to The New Patch

So when my steam games are updating they update no matter what even if I"m gone for like 4 hours. They even update when I haven't even opened them. If riot could implement this into the patcher it would save people like me so much sadness when we come back from buying groceries and it says there was and error and the patching has to restart. Why can't you do that like a steam updater riot? Please it would save people like me trouble when updating the pbe. I have included a picture of my pain in the link.
