League of Legends Sportsmanship and Breaking the Meta

I'd just like to point out that as a bronzie, I am not the best player, nor do I claim to be. But I can't help but feel that the community is wrongly criticizing and continuously bashing others for trying out new things.

Recently, I've tried out an AP tank build on Sion, recognizing that this is not the "correct" way of building him. I played well, not feeding my lane, while evenly pushing and participating in team fights. Needless to say, I didn't get the highest KDA on my team, but I believe I did well enough to warrant maybe even a congratulations.

This was not the case. My other teammates, namely the ADC and support, expressed their distaste for my build, commenting on how great their KDA was in contrast to mine. While i acknowledged that this wasn't the "correct" way to build Sion, they continued to criticize and complain, not only to our team, but to the enemy team as well.

While I know this is only part of the LoL community, I feel it's necessary to comment on how the community has strayed away from openly trying out new builds and experimenting with champions, while accepting the meta as the one and only way to play League. Although there are trolls and feeders out there, who would rather break the meta simply for the fun of angered teammates, I feel as though experimenting with new builds is what makes League fun and exciting.

So, I simply ask of the community to refrain from aggressively criticizing new and "meta-breaking" builds until after the game is done, because you never know if a support Veigar will show up in the LCS one day.
