Is Riot Games Stagnant?

Hey everybody, Doesntlift here.

Can anyone give me a legitimate and concrete answer, as to why Riot Games takes so long to implement even basic features? Such as Replays, new map(s), new champions/skins. It's 2016 already, and Riot Games has been in the game since '09. Since their debut, they've reeled in billions in revenue and yet they STILL take months/years to incorporate simple features. We know without a doubt they have the resources to make this happen, and to make a few subtle comparisons; take a look at DotA 2 (No I'm not a fanboy or trying to incite a MOBA war).

Valve's staff associated with DotA 2 is less than %3 the size of the entirety of Riot Games. Yet they're capable and willing to implement many more features at an indefinitely higher production rate. Quality is subjective, but the fact there are companies out there with smaller teams, but higher motivation, is a fact.

Did it really take Riot all these years to update Sion? Which I was believe was promised around 2012? (Just an example of the time sink). How about skins and champions? I could easily draw this 'debate' out and give a laundry list of more capable companies, but I'm sure anyone of us could think of a gaming company that puts out more content at a quicker rate and less resources to boot.

This is just one factor of many, as to why players/streamers/Riot Staff themselves are leaving the game. Time is moving forward, but Riot is moving backwards. At first launch, they were far more community driven and had integrity. Perhaps all that money has gotten to their heads..? Who knows.

**Fuck you Riot. Hello (insert new game here). **

[Edit] - Thank you all for your contribution to the discussion, reading this and simply dismissing it is still an answer. Let your downvotes consume me, Riot will probably delete this as they've already deleted 2 of my post with the same question. See you boiz in Overwatch.

Even looking at the new client. Its extremely bland. Its exactly what we have now, just modernized. No special features or cool things added. Now....granted....its in alpha so its still very early into the thing. I get that. So complaints can only go so far, ya know? But look at Smite, DoTA 2, HoTS, HoN....all of their clients offer super cool features that Riot hasn't even mentioned or hinted at giving us. Their versions of their character spotlights are accessible directly through the client, along with super detailed spectator modes, all of the info pertaining to character abilities and #'s are right there in the client for you too look up and learn...( for example if i look up Darius...i should be able to see how much damage his Q does at each level and the AD scaling it has, right in the client itself. Not have to go look it up through some 3rd party website.) Tips & tricks on how to play a certain character or play against them....they even offer bonus videos on these sorts of things. I mean all Riot needs to do is go look at all of these other clients and there's 100 ideas of stuff to implement.

Mmm, no. I didn't dismiss you just because I disagree with you (which I do, if that wasn't obvious on the deleted post). I dismissed you because you don't know how difficult these "simple things" can be to implement, particularly with how unoptimized the back end of LoL is

The issue isn't with their lack of willingness to implement the features. They lack the groundwork in their code to implement them and have the game even remain stable. Their coding is awful and to change it at this stage in the game would require changing literally everything about their game and basically making a whole new game.

The way they have coded the frame work of the game is the reason why when you change something on AhriAhri it somehow changes the interaction on Rengar'sRengar Q to deal 200% damage. Or changing the damage on Blade of the Ruined Kingitem 3153 to cause Sunfire Capeitem 3068 to deal 800% damage. So with all these issues happening. Adding things that don't keep the game running or help it run in any meaningful way is a danger to their income.

I'm not trying to defend them, I'm quite aggravated with how bad the code actually is. However with such a big game and it being their first game ever I can't fault them for their terrible code. All I want is a stable game. And a game where the server actually sends the right data to my client so when I dodge a skill shot it doesn't still hit me ( I know this is more packet loss and internet infrastructure but it's still an issue )
