Hey i'm pretty sure i'm not the only ones this is happening to but ranked match makings has become like gambling every time you Que up for a game you gotta take 3 things into considerations 1. If your team has a troll (could be in champ select auto-locking a already selected role or in game just messing around) 2. Afk/Leaving (Startings doing poorly and decides to leave or argues with team resulting in a angry outburst and leaves) 3. Internet Issue (Internet issue isn't they players fault and he/she shouldn't be punished for it and neither should the people who have to deal with a 4vs5 or 3vs5) Each of these things runs thought my mind every time i Que up and i bet it goes through many other peoples minds too. Riot should have some kinda of system up by now to compensate players for that Troll player, Afk player and internet issue player. Many people have put good money into this game to enjoy it best as they can but it makes it hard when the game has no counter measure for these things, banning someone for 1 days doesn't give me my 15-20 Lp back or that 45-60 mins back in my day PROPER COMPENSATION SHOULD BE GIVEN.

In low elo (anything below challenger) it feels like you gotta babysit the kids on your team. Smh

Now to address your concerns. Riot is the King of all Trolls and therefore won't do shit.

The recent proliferation of AFK's is primarily due to mmr eloboosting bots. It used to be they just went AFK all game, but more recently they are getting smarter and saying things like "dis lag...lol ha ha" prior to feeding and/or goiing AFK. That way it looks like they are just having Internet problems.

...but if you look at the history of some of these trolls, you'll see a consistent pattern whereby they do this over and over again. Furthermore, you'll be matched and rematched with these same trolls over and over again.

This complaint comes up a lot, but it ignores statistics (outside of internet issues. CURSE YOU COMCAST!). Assuming you never troll or afk/leave, your team will statistically win more. The other team has an 11% greater chance to have that AFK or leaver, because they have 5 options and your team has 4. It feels like they never do (There's a name for this mental block, but i can't remember it and google is pulling up way too much religious stuff) but the enemy team will get more.

If these are the only things holding you back, don't worry. Over time, math is in your favor. You shall rise.
