I'm not sure placements are working as intended......

So I just went 7-3 in my placements, ending on two straight wins.

This dropped me from Gold 5 (1520-40 ELO prior to placements) into Silver 2.

I'm not sure how a winning record should be dropping me two divisions.

Would love to hear an explanation from whoever is in charge of that.

Well LCS has started so good luck getting any explanation from Riot that concerns 99% of their player base.

Just sitting on their hands right now like this is ok.

Preseason Rankings aren't considered for the new Season. Your MMR when you begin placements is based on your MMR at the end of the 2014 Season, though it's adjusted towards the average.

This means that - if you gained rank during the preseason, you won't see that represented by these placements. It also means that you should tend to be placed somewhat lower than you were at the end of last Season (unless you were below the average MMR of ~1200, in which case, you should be placed slightly higher).
