Gifting Centre - No Influence Points?

Had no clue what to put the discussion in so excuse the category!

I'm just wondering, why can't we gift champions or anything in influence points, yet we can in riot? I find this silly, honestly are they doing it to gain more money or?

There was a promotion awhile ago that allowed players to gift each other Rakan and/or Xayah for Influence Points, but generally, gifting is a RP only thing.
