I need help, elohell...also a bit of a rant

I want to say first and foremost that I rant, that I'm pregnantly hormonal, and that I'm kinda pissed off (not only did I just have really bad teams, but my browser decided to delete everything I had written....)...I don't post often, but after the last few days of games I've had...I need some kinda help from someone.....

What I originally wanted to start this by saying is that I realize and accept that everyone makes mistakes, everyone has bad games, and everyone has room to improve everything. I live my League playing by that. But I need help. I've been playing since somewhere around 2008 or so, but I never really cared about ranked. I played a few ranked games in earlier seasons, but not many. I hated ranked then for the same reasons I hate it now. But I'm tired of people and even some friends refusing to play with or acknowledge me because my solo queue is too low. So this season, I figured I would give it a chance. My first mistake was playing my provisional matches after I hadn't played for quite a while. There had been a lot of changes and remakes and while I quickly adapted to the new champs, the changes to things that I already knew were really slow to take to me. (We're all set in our ways in one way or another. I don't like champ remakes, even though I know a lot of times they're warranted [or not {KAT}]). I qualified down in bronze iv and I painfully clawed my way up. Once I got to silver, I shot up to silver II quickly, winning 5 games in a row, then 3 games, and once 9 and once 10 in a row, all ranked. I was up in my wins over losses. All my KDAs were up. Then, I had a bad couple days. I played bad for a few days, had a slump and dropped back to III. No problem, got back to promos. From there, my hell began all over again, just as I was starting to think silver was better than bronze. From there, I dropped STRAIGHT into sIV (barely a win in sight, after my slump, so I was playing better again) and I've been stuck here ever since, despite being up for promos 4 times. The biggest problem is the people I draw especially on my promo games.

What I need the most help with though, is how to get out of hell when so many odds are stacked against you. 8 out of 10 games, I have a player (and about 2/10 two or more players) who do one of these following things

  • Second pick autolocks champion "I've only played them twice but we'll win"
  • "I'm too baked for this"
  • Bot lane give one double kill "Bot's feeding, GG, games over"
  • mia ping, 30-40 secs go by, top gets ganked "no mia!" /rage, curse, complain
  • "Fizz got one kill" /ragequit
  • "someone else took ADC, so I'm going to take Cait mid. We don't need AP"
  • "What're wards? We can all place pinks??"
  • "Hey, Kat top sounds like a good idea. I'll try it, first time!"
  • "I'm going to play AD Veigar!"
  • "We don't need a tank" *last picks squishy
  • AFK before feeding
  • AFK after feeding
  • "You give me mid or I feed" /feed
  • calls fill on champ select, at last pick "oh, I don't know how to jungle"
  • against all AP team "I know how to play, don't tell me to build MR" doesn't build it
  • feeds 5 kills in the first 8 mins out of 7 team total. Tell them to farm, pushes to turret and dies again
  • APC out of mana, jungle runs in, dies "Why didn't you follow me!" /rage

And this list can go on and on and on. And what's sad is that each and every one of these things (or similar) happen to me 8 out of 10 games. Sometimes you can work around it. Some 4v5s are winnable, depending on comp, if you can safely farm up, have patience and the other team makes a mistake. Sometimes one fed player just needs to be shut down and the rest of their team is completely open. Sometimes (rarely) a rager can be calmed. Sometimes you can talk people out of playing something strange and sometimes strange things can work or be worked around. But sometimes isn't good enough. How do you win games past these things? How do you climb out of hell when these odds keep getting stacked against you?

And anyone who hasn't been in bronze or silver (or gold, for that matter, I don't know) can't even begin to imagine the level of hell these things are. I had a friend in gold before and another in plat who used to complain once every 5 to 7 games about an AFKer or someone with a god-complex. I would give anything to have 5 fair games. To have 5 evenly matched, back and forth games. Even 3 in a row!

Something needs to be done about solo queue. I mean, why we have a queue for individuals who're then rated based on the team they have no choice in? I hate pay to play games and even I'm willing to pay a small fee for ranked only to weed out some of the people. Hell, I'd be willing to go to extreme (and I know, impossible) measures and take a urine test and breathalyzer for access to ranked! I'd withstand being beat on by teams of gold, plat, even diamonds for a chance to earn rights to solo queue. I'd double my normal wins from 1k to 2k if I had to! I would review each and every one of my replays and argue the losses that are specifically caused by (or snowballed by) someone else if I could. Something to lock some of these people out. And I know I'm not the only one who would do just about anything to weed these people out of ranked. I'm all for fun, too. I have a lan party almost every week where we play normals and do things like all ADCs with heal or all yordles everywhere or Fizz jungle and Talon support. There should always be a queue where anyone can play and anyone can do anything. But shouldn't ranked be here for those of us who want to learn, improve, and be serious?

I main Mid and ADC and I can do some decent sups if I have to. Regardless of what I play I ward as much (and more than a few) supports. I always have a pink out and unfortunately, it's usually the only one or one of two on the map. My KDAs on all the champs I play on a regular basis are positive (they usually go negative on games where the team gets extremely fed, long, high kill games, as a sup, and in games where no one knows how to peel T.T). I usually don't lose my lane to my lane opponent (I lose it to already fed invaders). I know how to take a bad matchup and minimize my opponents opportunities to get fed or ahead. I also know where I need work. I try to have fun with my team in the few times I chat (my mouse rests on the keyboard of my laptop and it isn't always easy to type in game) and I never rage. I have some heated discussions (especially as my pregnant hormones have taken over), but I rarely curse, insult, or demean anyone, even if sometimes (or alot of times) I think they deserve it....Please note that while these are my positive traits, I can still improve them off each and every game and I know that. But everyone has positive traits and skills and it's as stupid to deny or not acknowledge them as it is to deny or not acknowledge your flaws. So this is not a "brag brag, I can do things" or "I'm better than you at this", it is an acknowledgement.

I know my early game CS needs help on some champions, especially some of the more mana hungry APCs. I need to be a bit more aggressive with a couple of my champs and learn to maintain that aggression AND my farm. I know I get tunnel vision when I play Veigar who needs to farm Q or Draven who needs to catch axes. I know I'm not great at shot calling (better than some, but still needs a lot of work). My ward placement is getting better, but still needs some work. I die to protect pink wards...(embarrassing, but I admit it). My support still needs a lot of work. It's just weird to me to play and I don't play any of the tanky sups, which I should learn just in case. But I don't like melee ranged champs (with a few exceptions in mostly assassins) and I know that weakness and limitation full well.

All I want, is a fair match. I love good back and forth games, and don't mind losing those. I look at them as a great chance to learn and to improve. But all the stuff I have seen and have to deal with from my own team is completely mind-blowing and unfair. Something needs to be done. Or someone needs to tell me how to better deal with these people. Talking just either feeds them on, pisses them off, or just shuts them down....what can I do?

for those who actually read the entire rant....I admire you... What's the phrase for people who don't wanna read......tl;dr? well the that thing is -I want out of elo hell, I want a chance to play fair games and to improve off of those fair games...but that's not happening, so I'm doing something wrong... now off to bed because I have to work in the morning T.T

I am in the same position. Seriously. I work my butt off, and I honestly feel like I am just wasting my time at this point. I have been up for promotion to Bronze friggin 3 four times this week. And every time, SOMETHING happens to alter the course on my last game. I'm not saying I don't lose sometimes, because I do. But here lately, it has seriously been beyond my control. Most of the time, it's AFk'ers. No teamwork, or trolling idiots occur as well though. And the feeders, you can't leave them out. And I have fed before, I was carried earlier today because I was having a bad game.

But I think the ranking up process shouldn't depend only on Victories. Why not give points by the score you get?

I'm just exhausted with ranked and League altogether. As I said above, I feel as if I am just wasting my time and energy on this game. I have stayed up the past 4 nights trying to get to Bronze 3. And everytime, something happens.

ma'm that was long.

I play in europe but I believe that it's the same here.

Firstly I do not remember my time in bronze and i think I was never there. But in every tier there are trolls and idiots. When in platinum you see somone type "They are too fed, I go afk" you are not actually that surprised because you can see it in every 2nd or 3rd game. I don't know about your friends but I do not remember if I ever had 5 even games. I don't even remember 3 good games in row.

Now to your question. What can you do? Nothing. Only thing that you can do is try to do your best. Do not talk to those guys and when they flame you, mute them. Just play your game.

Biggest problem is your frustration. I know that. When I lost my Xth game in a row and got demoted from plat1 to plat 3 I found in myself that sneaky little guy who wants to log in to ranked and ruin the game for othres. Though I supressed that guy and I never did that.

I often find quite relief to play with someone or at least to talk to someone over skype (or whatever). I am then able to laugh trolls off.

There is no magic trick here, how to win ranked. Someone has luck for games, someone has tenacity to play for so long that he will actually get from elohell. But no trick to that.

If you want to get better at decision making I recommend to watch LCS or any other League (OGN, LPL etc.), well some might say that it will not help but I started waching LCS at the end of S2 and it realy helped me. You atleast know what is current meta and what pros build for what champ. Though remember that LCS is not Ranked and many things that would not work in LCS work quite well in ranked and vice versa.

Long story short. There are ways to get better (customs to train your farming, teambuilder to learn champs etc.) But there is no way to get from elohell except to get better.

Good luck on your adventures.

and sorry for the english.

(P.S.: I like european shoutcasters better then american. But generaly both are better then other shoutcasters. Except Montechristo, because montechristo is God - and he sells cheap tickets for Korean hype train.)

theres trolls in every elo. its just less in places like KR that have IP block to keep out the "other" trolls.

That was a really long rant but I read through it all and it sounds like you might have tilted a bit, but that's okay it happens.

Here's a quick story, I used to play poker when I was younger and I ended up losing a bunch of money doing it because I tilted from "an idiot" who played bad (statistically speaking) but got lucky, you know the 3% chance they get their card and they do kind of thing and sure you lose that hand but you also end up going on tilt and losing more and more hands, but not because of idiots anymore though but because you are just starting to play worse yourself, essentially you start playing like the person who tilted you in the first place. After that I learned a lesson on attitude and tilting for ALL games and anytime something is on the line you really need to evaluate appropriately. So for poker it's money and for ranked games in League it's you're ranking. The reason I bring up this quick story is for perspective because I think what you are going through which you mention as basically "ELO hell" I would just consider it tilting, that's not to say you are playing horribly after a few losses or not taking breaks either but I'll get to that in a second. Tilting is the feeling that odds are tilted against you and no matter what you do you can't seem to win.

I looked up your profile and some of your ranked games and yes some of those games you probably lost because of someone else and there ARE games that are out of reach but if you want to climb you can't let that bother you, some games are a lost cause and you have to accept it. Just take a deep breathe or a small break if you feel yourself tilting, for example: the moment you start blaming it on someone is a good sign that you're on tilt or about to. This isn't to say that it may or may not have been their fault but it doesn't matter since you can't change it and dwelling on it or letting rage build up is only going to affect your play in the next game. So, try not to let things bother you as much so for example when someone locks in a champion and says 2nd time on the champion, understand that they may be joking and even if they're not just trust them. I usually say things like "I believe! <3" this can help lighten the mood and make people less stressed which helps them make calm and calculated decisions as opposed to rash ones.

Even the BEST poker players have streaks of losses where they can't seem to win the difference between them and an amateur though is that they mitigate their losses by not going on tilt, this is the same for league. Focus on yourself and what you can do to win the game but that doesn't mean play selfishly either it means play smart, try and understand the win conditions for that particular game and do you're best to meet those conditions. Also, don't be afraid to lose it's okay in fact those are often the games you need to learn the most from. Always ask yourself what can I do to help my TEAM win this game, if you don't have an answer perhaps you should watch the replay and try to analyze it or get a friend to watch it and see if they can help you.

You can even add me if you want and I can do my best to help from time to time. Just remember that mindset is very important and it can and will affect the way you play, sure sometimes you'll lose games because of someone else and maybe there is nothing you can really do to change the outcome of that particular game but remember your ranking isn't based on one game alone. Work on the things you CAN change (like you said you had troubles with CS on some champions) and I'm sure there is other stuff you can improve on so focus on that.
